They might confirm Fable on stage and they will def talk about MS Santa Monica. At this point I don't care what MS shows they just won full confidence in me for all they are doing right now, I Believe in Spencer.

they need this so badly. before they start making games for other publishers

Was anybody else throwing AAA money at Playground Games?

I think this is a good move, there are clearly talented people at this studio and perhaps they should be working on the sim Forza games as well. But MS doesn't NEED to do this. They would keep working on Forza because its a steady stream of income.

However, this studio is apparently working on another IP for MS. So maybe they have bigger plans than we know.

Should’ve done this years ago. Now it’s way too late for this gen, but better late than never I guess. That said not exactly sure it’s a good thing for the studios considering other Microsoft owned studios’ fate in the past.

Closing hasn't been exclusive to MS. I can think of a competitor that has closed numerous studios and even sold one.

Bottom line, if a studio isn't producing notable content in a reasonable time, they could get closed down.

What is the studio “Avatars Studios Redmond” listed in that post?

MS has been working on a new avatar system to replace the old one from the 360 era. According to the leaks, Avatar Studio Redmond will be developing new Avatar games and working with 3rd party studios to develop new Avatar games similar to those we got last generation on Xbox 360.

Some of the avatar games from 360:

1 vs 100
Jeopardy!
Wheel of Fortune
The Price Is Right
Uno
A Kingdom for Keflings
Doritos Crash Course
Hasbro Family Game Night
Lips
Snoopy Flying Ace
Scene It!
Motocross Madness

I actually thought you were kidding at first. I never knew this was a thing on 360. This studio doesn’t sound like a big deal, at least not on the level of the Playground acquisition.

Playground has worked only ever worked with Microsoft since it was formed and IMO Forza Horizon 3 is the best racing game this gen and was incredibly successful, Forza Horizon 4 is going to be incredible. This move made a world of sense and now MS has 2 AAA studios, just hope that the Fable team isn't forced to work on only one franchise going forward.

When they first started out I think they did a bit of consultancy/work for freestyle... but from making games point of view, yes I believe it was only MS.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

I did not see a lot of job listings on Microsoft.com for example, except for the known studios.
It might indicate towards acquisitions...

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

MSSM better than SSM confirmed... one more letter and a palindrome.

Believe it or not, the Avatar games were actually pretty popular on 360. They're great for luring in casuals because most of them were family friendly. Between Kinect and the Avatar games, MS managed to lure in more casuals last gen then Sony did, though obviously Wii still had more casuals overall.

I remember having a good time playing with friends the Avatar games.

MSSM will def have an original name and not be named after the City, Funny how SSM didn't change their name after leaving Santa Monica.
