(this means they view the "good" showing of single player games from sony as a "trend" that ll change by next year lmao)

You should probably read the entire article, it’s available for free. The context of the part about trends was in regards to battle royale, not “good showing of SP games from Sony”, lol. I mean... the OP literally begins with him discussing how long SP games will always be around. That’s the opposite of a trend that changes every year.

I know this is MS and Chartz so most of the talk will be negative but is there really anything surprising here? Microsoft has always been more about MP games and they’ve always put less resources into SP than the competition. With GamePass, why would they not continue to put an emphasis on GaaS? It also doesn’t mean they aren’t making any more SP games. Personally I’m fine with there being strengths and weaknesses for each console. I wouldn’t want MS to try and emulate Nintendo and Sony because that’s not why I game most on Xbox platforms.

For all the talk about how amazing Nintendo and Sony SP games are and how MS has nothing... they just released SoD2, which I’ve already put more time into in single player than I’ve put into any SP game from the other two. MS knows their fan base, what is wrong with them focusing on that fan base? They can try things to appeal to a wider crowd but there’s nothing wrong with appealing to their fans.

sounds like hes saying this:
Yep, we re not going to do single player anymore, because theres more potential for makeing money in multiplayer (and their cheaper to make.

What he actually says:

What he actually says:

"We've got to get our strategic long-term bets, our game development cycles and the things our players like to do in sync. And that will set us up for success".

(Its too late now (or too early) to change things up! we re all in this round of poker, and we re betting big on multiplayer!)

LMAO!!  If that's what they really believe, boy.  A trend that has been going on since the late 70s will end in a year or so.  Weird how those single player games keep doing great.  With many of the current sequels having the largest sales of the franchise.

I've got it! He looks like a cross between Geoff Kelley and major Nelson.

Holy crap, that's it.  Especially the Major Nelson part.  Was wondering why he looked familiar.  Is this guy Nelson's younger brother?

I mean sure, I'm all for them focusing on the fanbase they have, but surely their goal is to expand that fanbase? I'd agree with you if they were currently doing better in the console race since it would show that what they're doing works, lol. Then again they seem to happy as they are, so can't really complain, if it's not broke, don't fix it... but that doesn't mean you can't improve it! :P

I wouldn't say they are happy.  You have MS spending less money and time on the console side of things, and seemingly trying to draw people back to PC with GAAS that will be on both.  Not sure if that's going to work for them, but it may.  I do think they are going to give it a pretty good try next gen, with XB2.  Though, it'll be interesting to see if they even have exclusives on it, instead choosing to release it on both XB2 and PC.

This just reminds me why I've ever hardly considered buying an Xbox product.

Well with Minecraft surpassing 150 million, Fortnite making billions, GTAV surpassing 100 million, Activision still making a ton of COD, EA even after the bullshit with SWBII having a great year, Pokemon GO being the most profitable Pokemon game, Valve making still a ton with CS/TFII why would you focus on single player games?

Because they're the best?

Predicted 15+ million lifetime-sales for God of War:

Explained it exactly how it is. Its one if the reasons i got into the Halo series, they offered some of the best campaigns around and some of the biggest multiplayer experiences at Esports and in peoples home. Hoping Halo 6 brings back those big level designs and a multiplayer that continues the games legacy for years.
MP to me is just as important as the SP.

Well if you use facts and numbers obviously only a minority thinks that way.
