Forums - Gaming Discussion - Atari VCS Has Pulled in Nearly $2.4 Million Dollars in Funding in Three Days!

Perhaps people should be concerned that Atari has shown the VCS playing Tempest 4000 when the developers for Tempest 4000 say they haven't even been asked by Atari to port it to the system. This has Coleco Chameleon written all over it

Congrats on people wasting their time and money on this crap.

Follow up - check out the latest news: The developer of the game that they demoed (Tempest 4000) has said that he doesn't know how "Atari" ran his software on their device, as he hasn't produced a Linux port.

"Atari" have changed the wording on their website to de-emphasise that the games were running on the console.

"Atari" have now collected nearly $3 million dollars on Indigogo.

As if this doesnt stink to all heaven of a scam already....

Who in their right mind, put $3 million dollars into their pockets for this? why would you buy this?

Oh... we're never gonna see the Atari VCS... are we...

Most Atari games just don't hold up compared to today. This thing won't play anything noteworthy that isn't already available on Switch/PC/PS4/XB1.

Was going to post that Register story, but you barely beat me to it by 14 hours.

Who could have guessed that this contraption, crowd funded, with the Atari name, would end up, potentially, in flim-flam territory?

Doesn't seem like a wise investment to me, but i guess some people have money to waste

Yeah, seems like these days people have a lot of money to waste and corporates are profiting from it by selling old instead of giving something new and useful to daily life. Its because a lot of people earn money cheaply, so they burn here rather giving it to charity to help fellow humans who needs it. People are really greedy than ever, and its such a bad world we are living today which is tied by digital electronics.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

Now the Intellivision guys also want their part of the deliciously profitable "Retro cake": https://www.dualshockers.com/intellevision-amico-revealed-prge/

And they are also promising exclusive Atari remakes (so stuff that the Atari VCS backers/buyers won't get)... Yeah, that will totally go well and there will be no bad blood between Atari fans whatsoever.

Don't bring back anything from before the NES. The audience is just not there.
