About the mother, it's like this. While you're playing the story, if you aren't invested in the purpose of what you're doing, there's a chance that you just end up giving up on it. I actually forgot what I was doing sometimes because I simply didn't care about the objective.

Check the trophy information about the game. Only like 25-30% end up finishing the story. I think that's a direct result of the game not giving any info on the mom at all and people losing interest in finishing the game.

About the enemies, there are only a dozen types but a lot more reskins. I don't consider shield draugr different from heavy draugr. These are the same type just given a different weapon. To me, it's not enough. It gets boring after a while killing the same creatures over and over again. This is especially true if you've played as much as I did. Maybe it won't be so obvious on a normal playthrough.

If you look at different games, you'll see that 25-30% of players finishing the story is very good, most games don't have that much. So the game is really engaging enough.

And yes, shield draugr and heavy draugr are different. You actually want reskins, and it's not. You want monster who look different (reskin), while the game provides you monster who are from the same race but are very different gameplay wise. Seriously, you can't tell me that you did the entire trials without changing your attack style between the different ennemies. You have 100 enemies trials, and yet it will be very varied during the trials from one wave to the next.

You want them to invent 50 different races just to change their look, just to look different. What about WW2 games, do you complain that you only shoot humans?

C'mon. We're talking about a AAA 10/10 game here. 25% for a 10/10? If you're giving such high marks you can't compare it to how other games do. If it's really 10/10, it should be finished by more people. C'mon. Stop being so forgiving yet giving it a perfect score.

And no, I don't need 50 types. But a dozen? For a 10/10 game? A dozen monster types? That's simply not good enough.

See, my point is that having these issues is specifically for this game because we're giving it high marks. High marks for everything so everything has to be high standard. Why forgive it then if some parts fall short? If this were a different game, you wouldn't forgive it too.

you're a brave man OP for openly criticizing the game. Kudos to you. I agree with some of your nitpicks like puzzles and what not, but the stuff about the story(mother) i gotta disagree with there.

This gameplay is so good btw. I am certainly not this good. Anyone here better than this guy?

I linked his channel in the review. ;)

I don't think I'm being brave. The only difference with my review is that I actually played through every piece of content the game has, unlike those others who just played the story. I'm just being honest and anyone who is honest with it will see the same problems too.

"unlike those others". Right, because you're the only platinum trophy in the world.

And seeing problems is an opinion, not "being honest", please don't present yourself as superior because you wanted more enemies or didn't understand the point of the story, thanks.

Reviews came out days after the reviewers all over metacritic received their copies. They were published a week before the game came out. Maybe you take off the fanboy glasses and see the flaws for what they are?

Go look at another game. See how many enemies there are compared to this. Then compare the score. Have we been fair? Or have we simply forgiven this game's lack of enemy types because everything else is good?

And please, don't tell me I didn't get the point of the story. The fact that I'm complaining about it means that I did get it, but I understood that it wasn't told in the best way. If I had to recall it and I had to reread what I was doing because the main mission got lost in all the obstacles you had to bypass, there's something wrong there. Again, you're just forgiving it because everything else is good.

I have the plat...pretty sure I did not put in 150 hours though.

Did the OP do multiple playthroughs on different difficulties or something?

I basically agree 100%. An amazing yet slightly flawed game.

I agree with most of your positives on the game but your negatives seem nitpicky and not bad enough to affect the score. For me, forcing progression by limiting my choices in when I can backtrack by blocking paths or putting powerful high level enemies in a spot I just left was annoying. I think that the skill trees should offer more variety or be deeper. Just seemed shallow for a rpg but excusable considering the other GoW games.

My nitpicks. Kratos' strength in combat doesn't match the level of strength he displays in the action scenes. Kratos is really squishy for a supposed god because everything can kill him fairly easy. The platinum was too easy to get.

Yep, I mentioned it up there. I played on every difficulty. That's why I'm complaining about the lack of new game+. It's a chore to restart and collect stuff again.
