Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bloodborne vs. Dark Souls 3 for a beginner

Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3 for a Souls-newbie?

Bloodborne 22 66.67%

Dark Souls 3 10 30.30%

Both equally 1 3.03%

Total:33

So guys…. which one would you suggest me to play as a "Soul-game beginner"? Which is more accessible? I was always interested in playing a souls games but always a little bit afraid of their difficulty? and please explain your decision. Thanks

Bloodborne is a little easier than dark souls, but it's more refined imo.Either dark souls 3 or bloodborne would be good places to start, but i recommend bloodborne.

I think Dark Souls III is the easier game, though a lot of that depends on what kind of action games you've been playing in the past. Bloodborne rewards highly offensive playstyles, while Dark Souls III places a bit more emphasis on defense, though aggressive plays still work well there as well. Bloodborne does do a bit better job at easing the player into the game at the start, so that might be a good reason to go with that first.

Since you´re not used to Souls games, Bloodborne might be harder for you due to lack of shields, at least in the beginning.

You could start with the original Dark Souls, now that the remaster is out.

Going from bloodborne to dark souls was for me harder because of how slow dark souls is, theirs is a weight to the character that feels very restricting. While I'd feel going from dark souls to bloodborne would feel better going to a lighter faster character.

Bloodborne is intentionally more casual than Dark Souls, not having nitty gritty like equip load and whatnot. Also less weapons to learn in Bloodborne.

My theory is Bloodborne was made to be difficult, but more difficult for Souls vets than anyone else by forcing them out of their comfort zone (which is usually behind a shield). New players will be more at home with the frenetic dodge-heavy gameplay of Bloodborne than those used to Dark Souls' block and poke style.

You'll have to unlearn everything you've learned in Dark Souls 3. Playing defensively will get you killed fast in Bloodborne.

Just letting you know if you decide to start with that first.

Why not start with the original Dark Souls? It's the perfect time to play it since it just got a Remastered version.

Between Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne I would say that Bloodborne is the more accessible game while Dark Souls 3 is the easier game for beginners. But you should know that if you want to enjoy Dark Souls 3 as much as possible then you need to play the original Dark Souls first.

Well I thought about it but if I am correct Dark Souls 1 is considered the most difficult one from all souls-games including Nioh and Bloodborne and to be honest I wanna get familiar with the gameplay first before going for such a difficult game^^

I have not played much of Dark Souls 3...

With that in mind however, Bloodborne poops all over Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 in my humble opinion.

The real question is what theme do you prefer?  Bloodborne is more of a eerie lovecraftian theme while Dark Souls is more of a middle ages theme dealing with undead and monsters.
