Must not bother Germany really. They now know what it feels like to go out at the group stages like every other big team.

The reigning champions are out at the group stage. Who would have predicted that.

Me (in this very thread I think)?

The German performance is not a surprise for anyone who followed the team and its surroundings. The last good game Germany delivered was against Spain in November 2017. Since then, the team has slowly fallen apart. One atrocious test match after the other. It didn't help that political noises disturbed the team as well. Usually the German team does not perform particularly well during the buildup to a major tournament, but this time it was visible that the "kick" is missing. Maybe the team is just "too old", maybe the team coach has lost his mojo. In my view, he made several grave mistakes with his choice of players. But then again, particularly in hindsight, we are all better coaches than the real one.

As we go into the final rounds, I see Belgium as the only really convincing team. I wonder how far the'll make it.

My thoughts exactly. Beating Germany was not any accomplishment.

Germany, what happened? Get back in there 2022.

All teams in the group are very irregular if you think about it. Sweden lost against Germany due to that lackluster 2nd half and Mexico offered a very good game against them, while South Korea could've offered a much better role, they showed it against both Sweden and Mexico, but ultimately lost both matches. Mexican commentators mentioned at the end of today's game that Sweden is "Champion material", but I think it isn't, that is, if they play in the next round like they did against South Korea and Germany.

Sweden lost to Germany. C'mon!

3 people are reponsible for this
- Higuain in the last world cup missed a sitter and gave Germany the WC, activating the WC champion curse
- Marcelo Díaz made that stupid mistake in the confed cup final, activating the confederations champion curse
- Kimmich for fighting with Vidal, activating the Chile-curse

3 curses are too much even for Germany

But they defeated Mexico and quite overwhelmingly. If they played like that for the rest of the tournament, they could go very, very far.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Well, that was a horrible game from Mexico. 😠
Gracias a Dios por Corea del Sur.

Brazil will win this cup again, just because, much like in 2002, nearly every other team which have players of similar quality simply aren't clicking together.

Yeah, if I had to bet money I'd put it on Brazil now.

What about Belgium?
