Hmm, now I'm getting a bit more interested, specifically thinking of playing some soccer games. Unfortunately there is no 2018 World Cup game though, so maybe I can just find the 2014 one for cheap As I'm not paying out of my ass for FIFA 18 which will just become obsolete anyway (though to be fair I haven't got a FIFA game since 14 so I've already missed 15, 16, 17 and now 18).

The game on the SNK Collection is very fun.

Oh yeah, that one does look fun. I guess FIFA 17 and FIFA 18 having single-player campaigns is pretty cool though, but they still cost too much for me to want to make the payment.

FIFA 18 did add a World Cup mode, it isn't great but it was a free addition so can't complain too much. It's also pretty cheap at the moment due to being on sale, only 16 quid on UK PSN right now. That's not really paying out of your ass FIFA 17 should be even cheaper if you go pre-owned. Old FIFA games are dirt cheap as soon as their successor releases. Edit: There's a FIFA 17 on Amazon for £2.44 right now, so yeah dirt cheap and I'd assume it would be stupidly cheap in Canada now too?

As for World Cup games specifically, I didn't think much of the 2014 one. 2010 was really good though and 2006 was fantastic, they're probably pretty dated by now however.

Well, from what I checked FIFA 17 is $30 off Amazon, but maybe I can find it cheaper in the wild. I have 2010 and 2002, I mainly remember 2002 though because I would get red cards for slide tackling the goalkeeper, but then on the replay it'd clearly show that I didn't even touch him

huh, maybe it's just a quantity thing, like there's just so many copies of FIFA games here in the UK that they sell for such a low amount 2nd hand. Still, have a look at PSN since it should be on sale there too.

I never actually had the 2002 game, sounds like good ol' FIFA logic at play there though I had some great times playing the 2006 one with my brother though. Pretty sure that was the one that had cheats, so we'd play matches with invisible walls round the pitch for bouncing the ball off and no offsides for some crazy games.

They had sales here during E3, but E3 is over so I'm not sure what the price would be to be honest, though I'm someone that only buys games physically

8th on the FIFA Ranking by the way

How is that possible?? They are playing like one of the worst teams in this world cup...

4 year to build that rank lol. Qtr finals in Euro's (they lost to Portugal on penalties after a 3-3 game) plus qualifying well.

Without their main defender and another striker they are all over the place. Their team is aging too, end of an era for them, time to rebuild.

Because the methodology for the FIFA ranking sucks. Play one good qualification and avoid big name teams in friendlies, and you'll rack up a lot of positive results despite never having shown that you are competitive with the best teams in the world.

Poland not only avoided big teams in friendlies, they didn't play friendlies at all since november 2016 to avoid losing points and secure a pot 1 place in the draw.

People are mentioning Poland being ranked #8, but what about Argentina at #5? They've been terrible too and they didn't have a good qualifying campaign either

Because Argentina reached the finals in the last World Cup and the 2015 and 2016 Copa Américas. On the other hand Poland hasn't done anything remarkable in the last big tournaments.

Saudi Arabia 0 - 2 Egypt
Uruguay 2 - 1 Russia

Iran 0 - 2 Portugal
Spain 3 - 0 Morocco

Hmm, pie.

Russia 1-2 Uruguay
Egypt 3-1 Saudi Arabia
Portugal 2-0 Iran
Spain 2-1 Morocco

Say, I realize that by posting late at the beginning of the league I wouldn't get points for any group that already had a team play, but it looks like I'm not getting points for predicting any group at all.
