Maybe but the competition now for top 4 is a lot stronger than back then even with all their woes they've done well to be 6th in this day and age, Liverpool's problems back then were some what different though, they could have won the league at least twice if it weren't for two particular matches in one season and one slip up in another.

They could have won the league once, that was the slip year. Rafa Benitez is a completely different era of Liverpool.

In any case, yeah the competition for top 4 nowadays is a lot stronger, which is exactly why a team performing like how Manchester United are has no chance of getting in. All 5 teams above them are winning games left and right, they're 8 points behind Arsenal, never mind top 4. For context, they'd be 13th with 8 fewer points, and and are closer to the relegation zone than they are to Manchester City.

It's insane to think they're anywhere close to the top 4 when they're 11 points adrift of it while teams like Wolves, Everton, West Ham, Watford and Bournemouth are within touching distance of them. If anything, they're barely holding on to 6th place at the moment.

I really wouldn't tempt fate if I were you because the second half of a season can change things drastically you should know being a Liverpool fan with the amount of season second halfs that have been in contrast to your first, United are were they are because they've done something they've mastered over 30 years grind out campaigns, even when they don't play well they're often still able to catch the top 4 the have been several seasons where they've had shaky first halve seasons then gone on to be fine.

On another note this is the 3rd time in a row Mourinho has been sacked in the third season of taking over and 4th in total while 3 of them have been to Klopp the first being to Sir Alex, now dubbed third season syndrome.

His management approach is too narrow and the rest of the league ends up figuring it out I understand you have preferred tactics but change things up when they're not working at least.

It's not only his tactics, it's his personality too. He just becomes toxic, looses the dressing room etc it's a meltdown. He's more of an impact manager anyway imo.

Lol United's stock value went up by £170m due to Mourinho being sacked they actually made money equivalent to winning a trophy.

Meh looks like Tottenham got their revenge. Annoying as I think we played a good game Emery style. They pretty much got two counter-attacks, both down to huge defensive errors. With some signings this team will mean business.

Koscielny is past it though.

Well they showed Dele Alli that they've still got some bottle...

Sorry couldn't resist.

Heh a good one.

But I'm ashamed for that asshole who threw it. No excuses.

Emery needs to do better sorting out our defensive issues. Xhaka is needed as midfielder. Not a fan of Emery's team selections. But I could see the way he wants to play.

Ozil's pass... He's a great playmaker when he wants to be which is frustrating when you consider he has ability that matches great EPL playmakers like Scholes, Bergkamp, Zola and so on problem is you don't know whether he's going to bother or not.

Imo he rarely plays badly though. People, even many Arsenal fans, just look for reasons to make him a scapegoat. He just always looks like he isn't bothered even when his stats tell another story.

Great win for Palace! Liverpool double incoming.

This is already looking like an improvement from Mourinho under him it'd still be 1-1 or Cardiff leading 1-0 at this point.
