Nah. R2R will shift many a ps4 even though sales have peaked apparently, the power of R* games is immense. I also think Sony underestimate the amount of people who have yet to buy into next gen for a power house like RDR2. Switch will probably have 2019 quite easily no mater the games scheduled for release.

I don't think Red Dead Redemption is even close to the sales caliber of GTA, Pokemon or even Smash.

Red Dead 1 sold 15 million. Red Dead 2 will sell that on PS4 alone, easy. PS4 shifts software like nothing else before it.

May had DKTF, April had Labo, and March had Kirby. What makes May so much better than April and March would you say?

April had only Labo, but May had DKTF and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.

Didn't even realize that a Zelda Musou port got released on Switch. How well do you think it'll rank on NPD software?

But the question now is: how much hardware will RDR2 sell?

Dont know, but fact is that DKTF and Hyrule Warriors DE are stronger than Labo.

I don't know. If it's mass bundled, a lot. But it's like, imagine Smash releases September and Pokemon November, these are both going to push a lot of consoles for sure. But this year, Switch has direct competition in both those months. Spider-Man in September with a limited edition bundle, and Red Dead in November. As you say, these may not push sales as much as people think at this point in the PS4's life, but GoW certianly sold PS4's, and still is. Why hasn't Spider-Man and Red Dead got that same potential? After all the last Red Dead was nearly a decade ago and since when was the last good Spider-Man game?

I fully expect Switch to sell crazy good this holiday, but I also expect PS4 to do the same. And about the whole point of total year sales, the Switch would have to dominate like crazy to outsell PS4 in 2018. Because so far PS4 is widening the gap every week by 40-50k.

Fact? We have actual numbers for any of those 3? Labo Variety looked pretty good on April NPD did it not?

Glad to be proven wrong. RDR is the sole franchise I love from Rockstar that actually sells.

More to the point though, how much hardware will it actually push? The user base for RDR heavily overlaps GTA and other open world games on PS4 / XBone like Far Cry, or AC.

No. PS4 will. Switch will miss the big holiday titles. But we can all fool ourselves and pretend it will.

We will see who is fooling themselves

I don't know how many PS4's it sells. If there's a bundle it should push sales. Probably not the same growth as Pokemon or Smash, but the baseline for PS4 is high in general in the holiday months.

It also depends on how agressive they all are with pricing. Sony opted not to drop the price last December and that put them last place in the US. Switch won without a price drop, so who knows what Switch is capable of with some deals? Maybe Sony don't want to drop the price in December in fear of lost revenue? MS are willing to do it, but they are in far greater need of growing their install base, and the holidays is the best chance of that for them.

If Red Dead reviews as one of the best games of the gen (likely), it could have the same effect God Of War did, and be this must have title. GoW doubled the PS4's normal April sales, why shouldn't Red Dead do a similar thing?
