She also showed her impeccable conspiracy theory skills at the same time, accusing Chelsea Clinton of being married to the nephew of George Soros. Spoiler alert; she's not.

What a shame, we lost another one of our time's great minds. She could have done a lot of good on Twitter and Facebook, spreading truth. You haters just don't understand her genius.

That's a BIG stretch.  Did she actually say she believed Clinton was married to Soros' nephew somewhere?  Cause all I see there is mocking someone's policies or maybe the fact that her family is funded by Soros by inserting his name into theirs.

Yes, she did.  Like people already pointed out earlier she has been saying crazy stuff for years and it well know she has mental problems.

It's too bad that this will now be the legacy of Roseanne as a TV show because I used to kind of like it back in the late '80s and early '90s when the first Roseanne show aired. It was more progressive back then and all about a low-income family not terribly unlike mine in some respects, which was something that simply didn't exist on the airwaves outside of that program at the time. Only my mom would let me watch it, so controversial was it considered to be, and she turned against it too after the first sign of lesbianism (which secretly I found validating). The new Roseanne is controversial too, but for the opposite reasons.

Essentially the show is about showing just how wrong Hillary Clinton supposedly was when she labeled a significant minority of Trump supporters "deplorables" who are racist, misogynist, and just all-around xenophobic. The new show portrays Roseanne as a Trump supporter (which Roseanne Barr is in real life too) and a kind of nice, broad-minded libertarian who unreservedly welcomes black kids into the family, totally supports lesbianism and gender-nonconformity and all that and only supports Trump because she wants a balanced federal budget and stuff like that. In reality though, what we are reminded of more indisputably than ever before here with this latest tweet is that the real Roseanne Barr is actually a very wealthy person who supports Trump because...surprise surprise, she's a racist! Kind of undermines the whole narrative of the new show, doesn't it? THAT is the real reason ABC had to cancel it.

People didn't vote for Trump because they wanted a balanced federal budget. They voted for him because they wanted the wall, the Muslim ban (the original version, not the one that actually got implemented), and a national Blue Lives Matter campaign led by the White House. That's the truth and there's no romanticizing it.

Those are my thoughts.

Nice generalization of the internal thoughts of millions of people.  You are quite talented.  If I had no choice but to vote and couldn't have voted third party then I would have voted Trump. In your opinion that makes me "racist, misogynist, and just all-around xenophobic"?  It would have nothing to do with me finding Hilary scary as hell and a poor candidate would it?  I really thought this last cycle would have been the one where a third party candidate might have found some traction (I didn't say Win)  with the main parties putting up such horrible candidates.

The Libertarian Party would have if they would stop nominating Gary Johnson.  He's actually for a larger government, the antithesis of a Libertarian, which scares Conservatives away.  I would have voted Libertarian in 2016 if they had nominated Austin Peterson.

I really don't think the Libertarian Party want to win.  They just enjoy getting those donations and talking a big game, focusing WAY too much on drug legalization.

Hopefully FOX revives it like they did with Last Man Standing after ABC cancelled it because of Tim Allen's "Being a conservative in Hollywood is like being a Jew in Nazi Germany" comment. ABC has become far too PC and leftist in recent years, it's a shame, they were once one of my favorite tv stations.

I've seen comics of other colors make racist jokes left and right and barely anybody bats an eyelash, but as soon as Roseanne, a white comic, does it, it's suddenly the worst thing in the world. The left has far too many easily offended snowflakes sadly.

I like how Sara Gilbert jumped in and felt the need to add "and so much more", just because they disagreed on a lot politically. Yeah, what Roseanne said was pretty damn racist (and not even accurate; I've seen some apey looking people, race aside, and Jarrett is not one of them), but apparently everything Gilbert disagreed with her on is now retroactively abhorrent as well?

Also, Wanda Sykes was involved in that show? It's hard to believe such a prolific race-baiter could get along with a conservative of Roseanne's "caliber".

She didn't say she looks like an Ape, she said she looks like the baby of the Muslim Brotherhood and Plante of the Apes. Look at the old Planet of the Apes movies, and look at Valerie Jarrett, the resemblance is there.

I'm not surprised with ABC on this. I was shocked they even did this show after they pull Tim Allen's show due to his Trump suport. Hopefully another station will grab onto it for next season.

As for the outcry, well, again, not surprised. People are going to find something to complain about. Had she made the same comment about Trump she would be getting praise on ABC, CNN, and such right now. The whole thing comes down to people taking jokes to serious. The real joke here is that someone can jokingly make a comment about something and get blasted for it, while someone else can make the same comment, not joking, and get praised. Strange times, hopefully this weird hiccup in our evolution will be over soon.

As a progressive who watched Last Man Standing:

The show wasn’t canceled because Tim Allen was a Trump supporter, because he was a conservative, or even because of his nonsense “jews in Nazi Germany” comment. The show had started leaning hard into political stuff in the second season, and Tim’s characters conservative politics were often at the center of it. The show was canceled because it wasn’t owned by ABC, but by Fox. Fox got a cut of the show’s profits. This means, even with great ratings, it’s often more profitable to cancel such a production in favor of something in-house. In the case of Last Man Standing, it’s ratings had been slipping for years, especially among 18-49.

Roseanne was a public Trump supporter for years. She said awful stuff on Twitter for years. Didn’t stop her from getting her show, where her character was a Trump supporter. She continued to say awful stuff, including spreading conspiratorial nonsense like Pizzagate. Didn’t stop ABC from immediately greenlighting the second season before the first season was even done.

If anything, the problem is that ABC was too willing to pinch its nose and ignore Roseanne’s behavior. They should have made her get a social media consultant to go over her tweets. They should have reigned her in. Instead they let her keep going, until she said something so repugnant that they couldn’t even air the show anymore without bad publicity.

By the way, Azuren, stuff like spreading awful conspiracy theories? Pizzagate, the George Soros Nazi nonsense, she called Susan Rice a man with big swinging ape balls, and everything in the below article is what Sarah Gilbert is talking about. Not a mere “difference of political opinion”.

https://www.vox.com/2018/5/29/17406014/roseanne-racism-abc-trump-twitter

The problem is, Roseanne finally crossed the line into more overt racism. That’s why she was canceled. She said Jarret was the baby of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. She didn’t reference a specific character of PotA. She said the entire movie. Which is, well, largely dominated by apes. She was referring to her ancestry (her black father and quarter black mother) and her birth place (Iran). This was racist, partially built on a conspiracy theory (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/make-america-more-islamic-quote/), and only slightly worse than typical Roseanne. If not for this, ABC would have been perfectly happy to rake in the ratings from all those nostalgic Trump supporters, regardless of her politics.

Time for Bill Maher to get the axe.

Yeah, nope Maher never said anything as deplorable as this plus on top of that he never promotes crazy conspiracy theories and he is actually mentally stable.  Barr on the other hand has had major mental issues since she was 16.

Roseanne got cancelled for calling an Iranian women an ape, Maher called Trump an Orangutan.

Going by that logic he should be axed.

I don't think he should, i'm just following the logic at hand.

Sure Maher called Trump that but guess what Trump started the beef first.  Trump always instigates fights and then when he gets offended by people fighting back at him he tries to sue them.

So what? It's about consistency.

The point is all the people who are outraged close their eyes when it happens to people who they dislike. That's pure hypocrisy.
