Hopefully FOX revives it like they did with Last Man Standing after ABC cancelled it because of Tim Allen's "Being a conservative in Hollywood is like being a Jew in Nazi Germany" comment. ABC has become far too PC and leftist in recent years, it's a shame, they were once one of my favorite tv stations.
I've seen comics of other colors make racist jokes left and right and barely anybody bats an eyelash, but as soon as Roseanne, a white comic, does it, it's suddenly the worst thing in the world. The left has far too many easily offended snowflakes sadly.

Azuren said: I like how Sara Gilbert jumped in and felt the need to add "and so much more", just because they disagreed on a lot politically. Yeah, what Roseanne said was pretty damn racist (and not even accurate; I've seen some apey looking people, race aside, and Jarrett is not one of them), but apparently everything Gilbert disagreed with her on is now retroactively abhorrent as well? Also, Wanda Sykes was involved in that show? It's hard to believe such a prolific race-baiter could get along with a conservative of Roseanne's "caliber". |
She didn't say she looks like an Ape, she said she looks like the baby of the Muslim Brotherhood and Plante of the Apes. Look at the old Planet of the Apes movies, and look at Valerie Jarrett, the resemblance is there.
I'm not surprised with ABC on this. I was shocked they even did this show after they pull Tim Allen's show due to his Trump suport. Hopefully another station will grab onto it for next season.
As for the outcry, well, again, not surprised. People are going to find something to complain about. Had she made the same comment about Trump she would be getting praise on ABC, CNN, and such right now. The whole thing comes down to people taking jokes to serious. The real joke here is that someone can jokingly make a comment about something and get blasted for it, while someone else can make the same comment, not joking, and get praised. Strange times, hopefully this weird hiccup in our evolution will be over soon.

As a progressive who watched Last Man Standing:
The show wasn’t canceled because Tim Allen was a Trump supporter, because he was a conservative, or even because of his nonsense “jews in Nazi Germany” comment. The show had started leaning hard into political stuff in the second season, and Tim’s characters conservative politics were often at the center of it. The show was canceled because it wasn’t owned by ABC, but by Fox. Fox got a cut of the show’s profits. This means, even with great ratings, it’s often more profitable to cancel such a production in favor of something in-house. In the case of Last Man Standing, it’s ratings had been slipping for years, especially among 18-49.
Roseanne was a public Trump supporter for years. She said awful stuff on Twitter for years. Didn’t stop her from getting her show, where her character was a Trump supporter. She continued to say awful stuff, including spreading conspiratorial nonsense like Pizzagate. Didn’t stop ABC from immediately greenlighting the second season before the first season was even done.
If anything, the problem is that ABC was too willing to pinch its nose and ignore Roseanne’s behavior. They should have made her get a social media consultant to go over her tweets. They should have reigned her in. Instead they let her keep going, until she said something so repugnant that they couldn’t even air the show anymore without bad publicity.
By the way, Azuren, stuff like spreading awful conspiracy theories? Pizzagate, the George Soros Nazi nonsense, she called Susan Rice a man with big swinging ape balls, and everything in the below article is what Sarah Gilbert is talking about. Not a mere “difference of political opinion”.

The problem is, Roseanne finally crossed the line into more overt racism. That’s why she was canceled. She said Jarret was the baby of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes. She didn’t reference a specific character of PotA. She said the entire movie. Which is, well, largely dominated by apes. She was referring to her ancestry (her black father and quarter black mother) and her birth place (Iran). This was racist, partially built on a conspiracy theory (https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/make-america-more-islamic-quote/), and only slightly worse than typical Roseanne. If not for this, ABC would have been perfectly happy to rake in the ratings from all those nostalgic Trump supporters, regardless of her politics.
