Superero movies have been more popular than ever before during the 2010s. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest grossing film franchise of all time. It's gotten to the point that I think the 2010s will be defined as the decade of superhero movies.

Oddly enough, I have only watched 2 superhero films of this decade: The Dark Knight Rises and Spider-Man Homecoming.

I think the MCU is also going to be remembered for creating the basis of huge cinematic crossovers (which in this case extends to TV series as well) that connect entire franchises. Higher-mass appeal, less necessity to rely on standalone blockbusters. I mean, that's what some people say, anyway, and Warner Bros. has already entered the hype with the DC entries.

On the other hand, the decade is also going to be remembered for being the peak of commercial pop music. Today I can pick any random pop Spanish music of these recent years and they all sound absolutely the same, and more or less the same applies to English releases.

Aside from 2015, which was surprisingly quiet. Just about every year has gone from 3 Superhero movies a year to 7. SEVEN.
That's an average of at least 1 superhero movie every 2 months.
So, yeah. I think referring to the 2010s as the Decade of Superheroes is pretty accurate.

2010s will have me too movement. Black lives matter. Trump presidency. Cubs ws win. Two nhl dynasties. Anthem protest. Opioid crisis.

Why? There's a shit ton of other stuff for you as is. Because these movies make a lot of money Negatively impacts your enjoyment of other stuff? 

The studios are doing different things. WB is making Fantastic Beast for example. Solo is coming out with Solo. 

In a broader sense I think the 2010s represent the dominance of IPs in the big blockbuster type films. Few directors (Nolan?) or actors (Cruise?) can be expected to carry a movie anymore on a large scale. Fortunately plenty of great smaller movies get made every year, but cannot expect them to green light $100 million + on that these days.

superhero movies use to be few and far between, and they use to suck. but now the MCU has turned everything around, evolving into a 3-movies-per-year success both financially and critically. and i think its really due to the humanization of the characters. they arent just blank slates with superpowers anymore, they all have their own backstories, motivations, lives outside of just being a superhero. not even to mention that having a secret identity has basically been thrown out entirely. i really hope this continues into the 2020's

Yup, generic superhero movies with barely some substance have been the latest trend for a while now.

They're just rebooting, remaking, remastering, rewriting everything they can in order to make a quick buck. Just like ultra violent horror movies a few years back, super hero movies are being churned out every year with nothing but special effects and convoluted storylines that only big fans will understand/get something out of. Everyone else just enjoys watching what's trending, and some fancy CGI.
