Plus they were thinking of making a Lando Calrissian movie but sine Solo is more then likely going to flop I doubt that will happen.

That seems unlikely. I heard it only needs $500m to break even, so anything beyond that is pure profit. I can't see the movie pulling in less than $700m (plus more on the DVD/blu-ray/digital release and merchandise), so it stands to make a nice profit for Disney. I don't see Solo's performance affecting their plans for future character based anthology movies much, if at all. I think Disney realizes the lower than expected performance is largely because they released it too close to Avengers and Deadpool, so if Solo's performance has any effect at all, it will be to convince them to pick their release dates more carefully in the future, and maybe to convince them to have slightly smaller budgets on future character based anthology movies.

$500M is just for the cost of production.  That doesn't include the price to market the film.  To break even they are probably going to need $700M-$750M.  If this weekend really ends up going the way they expect it, now, there's a shot it doesn't even hit $700M.

And the competition is a poor excuse.  Deadpool 2 is looking to drop ~65% this weekend, so making ~$55M for the 4-day weekend.  And Avengers is projected to make just $21M.  The question pops into mind, "What competition?"  When POTC:AWE made ~$139.8M, it was going against the 2nd week of Shrek 3, where it did $67M, and the 4th week of Spider-Man 3, where it did $18.1M.  And while POTC is a large franchise, it ain't SW.

Well, at launch in France Rogue One got more than 270,000 viewers. Solo did 89,000. Ouch.

No they aren't, they are upset at forced diversity. They are upset at shitty characters, who exist simply for diversity.

Again, how can you prove that they exist simply for diversity? And what would the solution be? To force the characters to be white males instead?

As someone who has an internet connection i don't have to show you how the left has been pushing for qoutas, and for for an increase in diversity.

The solution is to let developers do what they want.

So crazy that people are pushing the narrative that if there is a subpar movie/game with diverse characters, the reason for mediocrity is diversity

Again, how is the increase in diversity a bad thing? And to let developers do what they want? Haven't you thought that maybe this is the developers' choice?

Eh no? You completely missed the point mate.

It's about the treatment the fans received and how the franchise if being politicised.

Yes, I agree, but obviously that still isn't the case here as many people are upset that minorities and women are getting positions in films and games.

Ok, Sorry but I'll have to step in here:

And what exactly is this "forced diversity" you are talking about? Because you know we are talking here about a fictional story about a galactic war that involves hundreds of planets and that is supposed to involve hundreds of different alien races, right?.

Now you tell me how in that hipothetical scenario would make sense that only ONE HUMAN RACE would be involved.

Because no matter how many ways I look at this I always come back to the same conclusion: NOT HAVING human diversity is what wouldnt make one bit of sense here.

When you're forcing games/movies and what not to include diversity for the sake of it, you are going end up with a system which does not cater to the demands of the market, but which caters to an agenda. This is going to create an inferior product.

Mate the last 10 Cods did not have the ability to play as a black Female Nazi, nor did BF1 have Female British soldiers fighting in the trenches. That is because the developers did not see that as a key feature, the inclusion of that years later is nothing more then pandering. And given the backlash that those two games received, it is clear that the decision was not made based on the demands of the fans, or due to financial reasons.

Mate no where in this thread are people pushing the idea that diversity creates a mediocre product.
