Forums - PC Discussion - The last Windows update made my TV incompatible with my PC.

I keep getting a screen that is too big for my TV. Used to be able to go into advanced screen options, to fix it, but the last windows update removed the advanced options. Is there any way to get my TV to work with my PC, or will I just have to shell out for a monitor?

There probably is a way but this forum isn't google. Try again.

Windows 10 likes to break a lot of things with new updates and you're most likely not the only person with that problem. But while that sucks, it's still a PC and in 99.99% of cases there is a way to fix it.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Today it might not be the case, but back when Microsoft offered Windows 10 for free as an update and I downloaded it, my PC became absolute shit. Stuttered forever every 20 seconds or so, and it tended to crash a lot each time it installed an update. Downgraded again to Windows 8, smooth as a baby's butt.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I actually prefer Windows 10 over 8 myself, and as such I went from 7 to 10 as I feel like that had a smoother transition. I especially didn't like how the Windows menu was, I like how 10 is more similar to 7's.

Hmmm. Is Windows 8 still supported? Or did they force everyone to upgrade to 10?

But Microsoft added more things to make you think you need to use Edge! Yay. Though I do get a certain amount of pleasure deleting the Edge shortcuts Microsoft always adds to my desktop and taskbar with updates.

Seriously, the last big update destroyed the boot files on my external, forcing me to spent $70 or so on rescue software. Microsoft can fuck off.

Modern phones and windows are both jokes of a product. Imagine if your TV or Car had this level of fuckery in it. Oh! You just got back from the mechanic? Well we just exploded a tire because tire.exe is corrupt lol! Also, after the last mandatory mechanic check, your car can only go either 25 MPH or 88. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN!

Meanwhile, I'm running Debian. One major update every 3 years or so...

that sounds a bit like windows is feeding your TV an "overscanned" image while the TV is in "just scan" mode, some models afaik default to that in PC mode

usually TVs have the ability to switch between these aswell

So glad I no longer use windows or anything MS for that matter, garbage OS in my opinion.
