So after weeks of hostile rethoric (Libya model by Bolton, and freaking military drills in South Korea) and *right* after North Korea destroyed their nuclear testing site, Trump calls off the meeting?

Yeah, long lasting peace is not happening. I'm sure this will also harm US relations with South Korea.

..Perhaps this will see his ratings go back down again.

So North Korea just destroyed a nuclear test site and immediately after Trump cancels the meeting? That's a big set-back for the ongoing negotiations and also sends out the message that the US isn't particularly trustworthy.

But that's what happens when you have a village idiot whose top-priority is his own prestige and ego as president.

Yep sloppy, maybe deliberately so, oh well missed opportunity whatever the reason

This is just another deal that the Failure-in-Chief couldn't close.  Couldn't renegotiate the TPP.  Couldn't renegotiate NAFTA.  Couldn't renegotiate the Paris Climate Accord.  Couldn't renegotiate the Iran Nuclear Deal.  Couldn't come up with anything better than the ACA.  Couldn't come up with a tax plan that would balance the budget. 

Did anyone really think this would be different?  If anything, he interfered with South Korean efforts and made the peace process more difficult.

Lex Luthor, the Penguin and Gaius frakking Baltar were better leaders.

More than likely, Kim was making ridiculous demands. Better to cancel and negotiate from that position versus making concessions to something unreasonable.

I never believed either side wanted a real truce, it was likely just a show. However, Trump has botched this in a major way.
