Nintendo blocking Online-functions for hacked Switches

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo blocking Online-functions for hacked Switches

Apparently has Nintendo blocked some online-functionality for Switches that show usage of exploits of the Tegra-chip. E-Shop, online gaming, friends will be blocked, news and updates are still available.

*gasp*

No way!

It's going to be sad for pirates if they can't buy games from the eShop anymore.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

They'll eventually just make a Freeshop again, which will eventually be shut down by Nintendo, and the cycle will continue.

OP

This was to be expected. And I'm sure most hackers knew what they were getting into. But at least for now, we can rest easy in games like Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8. This is the best news to come out of this.

With paid online coming I don't even know if those who are modding their Nintendo Switch will even care.

It's just a dry run for when they take away online from everyone. It's a big thing and they've never done that before, so it's only prudent to practice.

Good, I see no down side to this news

Fancy hearing me on an amateur podcast with friends gushing over one of my favourite games? https://youtu.be/1I7JfMMxhf8

Serves them right.

Some days I just blow up.

Apparently Shiny Quagsire's non-hacked Switched got banned as well. Presumably because it used the same Nintendo account.

Not sure how this works then. Is it just the account that's banned, or the whole Switch?
It sounds like it's the Switch. So I guess people who hack their Switch's need to use a separate account for those.
