The likelihood of Resistance with a good protagonist flopping is higher than Nathan Drake starring in it. Nathan Drake starring in another series would atleast create some hype from Uncharted fans missing him.

So people are getting sick of Nathan Drake, but only in the Uncharted series?

Im sick of Uncharted, but it has nothing to do with any of the characters. I just find the gameplay lacking. Im probably in the minority though since the franchise is still very popular.

No the present time of 2000s is unbelievable for treasure hunting. Sully's generation is more interesting to fans as people can suspend disbelief just like fans of COD wanting world war 1 or 2 and not Infinite War.

 

Naughty Dog would need the greatest plot ever to make me or the fans want to buy another Uncharted starring Drake. It's not that I am sicked of him, I am just not interested with his time. We also have Chloe doing that for Uncharted. Chloe atleast makes it very interesting because of her origins.

His story has ended so let it die. Not every good game character needs to be a mascot. Besides Kratos is Sony's Mascot now.

How do you think Marilyn Monroe became a legend after starring in romcoms?

And if Nathan Drake becomes irrelevant... Merchandised sales would fall. It's not a good business decision to just cut off one of your greatest playstation heroes because his story ended. His image could just be sold to the highest bidder so they can make money off him. Letting him rot off the ground is just sad like most of Sony IPs becoming unused nowadays.

And Kratos won't make a good mascot. He's not everyone's cup of tea. Atleast not the kind of Nathan Drake that could pull off a loveable fool or dramatic turn.

What's so special about Nathan Drake that would justify keeping him around any longer? It's pretty much your standard mass-murderer-action-guy with more or less funny lines here and there. He's exchangeable. Even the Uncharted series itself doesn't need him as The Lost Legacy proved.

His story is told. Let him go.

No, thanks. I hate when other games lean on established characters like a crutch. Let each individual thing be its own, unique property. I want no part of Drake's Soccer or Uncharted Beach Volleyball, either.
