Also the Japanese 2台目用セット does imply that this package is targeted at households that already have a Switch.

Apparently this is being aimed at people who already own a Switch, so thats their reasoning for not including one. I wonder if this will be a Wii U gamepad situation, only available on the Nintendo store in Japan. |

I'm glad they're making that known so buyers aren't duped, considering the a/c adapter and dock are way more expensive when purchased separately.
Nintendo wanted to sell a switch per person instead of family. Maybe this is your way to get it.
Switch Friend Code = 5965 - 4586 - 6484
PSN: alejollorente10
I wonder if this could also work for the states on Black Friday? $229 with a/c adapter or straight up gangsta $199 just system and joycon??

Maybe they saw that the console is not selling as fast as it could, and would do better as a cheaper pure handheld. But it would damage the concept of hybrid and create 2 distinct markets on the console... |
Doubt that, its only available on the Nintendo online store in Japan. At the moment its very similar to what they were doing with selling standalone Wii U gamepads.
If this had a worldwide retail release than maybe you eould be onto something.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
They should just throw in a cheap charger and sell this worldwide at a 20% discount from the standard SKU. Would give sales a nice boost.

That's why I added "But we're not there yet since you still need a dock" ;)
If this gets a WW release with an adapter, you can expect lots of "handheld mode only" games, because the handheld only SKU will most likely outsell the full one.
