I agree with what you posted and why it is so bad when they decide to make out of character changes to promote an IP. And that is why I love Manga, new IPs all the time, and they have coherence.

I'm sure Hollywood would never do wrong by a beloved manga/anime series...

I love dragonball, but still didn't get the balls to try this one for more than the first 5 min =p

But I was talking more about Japanese market than the bizarre of Hollywood "whitewash" and other poor adaptations.

And what good reason was there for know after 30 years it need to be explicit??? And again you are ignoring the guy saying he played it as a hetero. I don't even remember the last time anyone had to declare he is hetero for anyone to care.

How many pale white / dark brow twins do you know? Besides the fact that it wasn't the original characterization.

What does playing it as a hetero even mean? Your sexual orientation is determined by which gender you are sexually attracted towards, so if sexual attraction was not present I have no idea what that is even supposed to entail. And yes, white and black twins do exist:

https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/04/race-twins-black-white-biggs/

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/black-white-twins-meet-sisters-5256945

The actor said the char was written as being hetero and he played as hetero, go challenge both on what was that supposed to mean. But again since the way it plays doesn't imply he is hetero he could be gay, showing again how useless is to go 30 years after and decide to make it relevant.

I didn't say they don't exist, I do know genetics (off course unless a bizarre mutation occurs a "single twins" would be same gender, color, face, etc) and that melanine is something like 16 pointers so you could have a father that have 16 markers and very dark, and a mother that is 0 and very white, with the children being very dark or pale even as twin. What I said it isn't common, which would even ensure people making news about it, and that it wasn't how the characters were created.

The entire thing is stupid. Diversity for diversity's sale isn't diversity at all, it's pandering. It doesn't help that most arguments for this forced "diversity" don't hold up even under their own rules (ex. "If it doesn't matter what gender the character is, then why can't they be a woman?" Because that would imply is does matter for the simple reason that it was suggested and that ignoring the suggestion could result in a shitstorm)

And what is and isn't diversity for diversity's sake? As I said before, the issue seems to be that people are so used to the default of male-dominated media that when it starts to change and diversify people take issue to that. People that are saying that it should just be determined by merit are ignoring the disadvantage that already exists in the industry, and in order to be resolved it cannot just be brushed aside, it has to be combated.

Like in the new Far Cry, how there are a number of black enemies to fight despite the area it takes place in having a very small black population.

The area it takes place in doesn't even exist, there is no Hope County in Montana.

It does take place in Montana, though. The county being fictional doesn't change the fact that less than 1% of the population of Montana is African American. Or are you disputing that by saying that because the county is fictional, the fictional Montana doesn't apply to the real Montana? In that case, there would be no point in calling it Montana at all.

But Montana does exist. And if you highball by assuming that every mixed-race person in Montana is part black, that's still only 2.93% of the population.

Michigan is mainly white, but it varies by county, Wayne County having a much higher proportion of blacks. Maybe they decided to make Hope County have a higher proportion of blacks, which they can do without being wrong because as I said there is no Hope County so it's impossible for them to be wrong.

Sounds like RE5 where people complained because there was too many black people... in a game set in Africa

Too many black evil doers/zombies... 100% black cast of nobles wouldn't get a criticism

Actually, it's the opposite problem, but similar. People were complaining about too many blacks in a primarily black country, but aren't complaining about too many blacks in a state where black people are mythological.

Michigan ≠ Montana

Clearly all the black people in Montana moved to Hope County.

If they wanted to be realistic and be more diverse, they would have included a few Native Americans.

Indeed.

Yeah, and Hope County doesn't exist. You can dispute the demographics all you want, but the fact of the matter is that they can use whichever demographics they want for a county that doesn't even exist.

I shit you not FC5 had complaints that it wasn't realistic due to having too many black people.
