How about Fire Emblem, which is already slated for this year (and will certainly get a nice chunk of the E3 presentation). And we don't know what else Nintendo will bring

Fire Emblem has generated a lot of buzz, but when you go and look at how it impacted sales of 3DS HW, the story is very different.

The first game gave 3DS a nice bump specially in Japan and worldwide… i think. But the second game only saw the same kind of impact in japan. In the US and Europe and US, the results were either decrease in sales for both markets or at least just for the US - can garante it HW sales decreased in Europe but i remember it did in the US.

Did it sell well? Yeah it did. But it hasn't had an impact in HW.

The titles i highlighted for Switch in 2017 were games that were really relevant (HW sellers). 2018 has only one system seller confirmed, so far. Pokémon might be confirmed and other might be revealed, but i can't use what isn't confirmed as terms of comparison.

Well, I guess the second game didn't do that much because the audience for Fire Emblem already bought a 3DS for the first one. I just wouldn't count out Fire Emblem as a system seller.

Speaking of system sellers, Octopath Traveller should also push the overall sales to a lesser degree as it opens the gates for classic JRPG fans

Thing is, the impact on sales was only relevant in Japan. A 35% boost during on launch, if i'm not mistaken.
I can't recall exact values, but for the US and Europe, the impact was lower.

Still, it could happen…
Personally, i'm just not expecting a reasonable impact on HW.

I have no idea how Octopath Traveller could do... Really, no idea.
Maybe it will be on of those games that it's either a success or a failure.
If it succeeds, i could see SE bringing more games like that to Switch - which is still good news!
