I think it is unhealthy to think of this in terms of sides.  It only prevents us from making changes or improving the situation.

There absolutelyare sides here. The proposed changes are just knee jerk reaction. Policy based on emotion will always be terrible. T

Loss is emotional for people and for people to have a emotional reaction to something like this is normal.  Emotions have nothing to do with the problem at hand.   Also, the idea that changes are knee jerk reactions as if this issue is new is bonkers and downright dishonest.  So kids getting plowed down isn't reason for policy changes?   Listening to you, it sounds like you don't want to try.  This conversation is pointless, because from my perspective, I can't understand how you can see the same thing happening over and over again and not want to do something.   That mindset is the only problem.  I also don't see the need for removal of guns so you attempts to make anyone who wants something better a political hack is getting old.  Everything isn't about serving the Democrats or Republican mindsets.  Sometimes we just have to care about ourselves, our families and our neighbors and be brave enough to face reality.

You need to just take a look around to see all the knee jerkingggoing on after an event. And, no, not really. Enforcement would do wonders.Again, most shootings are gang related. School shootings are statistically insignificant n

People are dying.  You can't call it a knee jerk reaction if this problem has been killing us forever.  Its not 'new'. Only ignored.  In most cases these deaths don't even get much coverage because that would be the only thing we would have time for.

I'm sure we can agree on something: Enforcement of current laws is needed and necessary and the inaction of our lawmakers to follow through is resulting in more deaths.  Its a waste of time to do more debating than actually doing something. We can take a multi-step approach to analyze our current laws, loopholes, criminal access, mental health, and then take the system that we have and alter it in an effort to drive down shootings.  Objectively.  Smartly and consistently.  We are smart enough to save gun ownership while striving for safety.

Mark my words, if people just continue to ignore it, there will eventually be a breaking point where the outcry of the people will force the government to take steps that reduce guns period.  I think most responsible reasonable gun owners understand that self reform is necessary before the people take the government with the express intention of taking guns away.

It's called life. You can't police peoples intentions and emotions. Despite having more lax laws gun violence has drastically decreased.

Yes, enforcement needs to be picked up. Especially in places like Chicago. Lots of criminals there are multiple offenders who just get released to keep committing crimes

Ah Chicago. No one seems to remember Illinois is surrounded by states with lax gun laws and that the majority of the guns used to commit crimes in Chicago originate from its surrounding neighbors. That's the huge difference of gun laws at the state and federal level.

How long before we make this political and disregard that children died?

.....never mind.

i dont know let me tune into CNN.

You could've just tuned in to Fox News and know that the real problem is video games.

Or you could've listened to this lawmaker from Texas and find out that the actual problem was doors.

It's not the guns, it's the video games and doors full of bullets that kill students. Don't forget that video games and doors are an America only thing. That's why you don't hear about school shootings in any other country.

LOL. I live in Chicago dude. I work for the state. And this is cringe worthy. Might want to check federal laws about this

It's not just Illinois. That link states it hits California and Maryland as well. There's no federal law that bans interstate travel with legally purchased firearms.

Sickening how people accuse us of "not caring" because we refuse to give up our rights. This is about FREEDOM, and the power to PRESERVE it! If our entire country gets killed by guns, so be it. We'll all die FREE.

There is no price too high to pay, to stave off a downward spiral into dictatorship.

Are there things we can do, or at least try? Sure, but hands off our guns.
