A motion controller for the PS3 ?

Forums - Sony Discussion - A motion controller for the PS3 ?

OK, there's people complaining about MS & Sony coming out with new motion-sensing controllers, but I don't see why. The Wii is supposed to be this new 'great' advancement in gaming but then when Sony & MS try to do it most people just call BS. If anything the motion-sensing controller on the PS3 & 360 would be the better experience considering the better detail in their games. So my question is, why are people complaining about it, and don't talk about 'pride' or 'honor' when a company copies another because that's part of business, especially this one. I mean what? You want me to acknowledge that Nintendo did it first, OK, Nintendo did it first, but Sony & MS might do it better, who knows.

The way I see it though is that motion-sensing controls only work with a few select games. RE:4 Wii Edition was amazing and I had already played both versions before it. But that's about all I've liked so far for the Wii, but that's just me.

Sixaxis is broken
Nobody use it because no game use it correctly.

I m not even sure all the PS3 users know the capcity of the controller since a lot of games dont use it.

SLAP* ... Lair has great controls.. with the SIXAXIS ... without the new patch

Heavenly sword has great SIXAXIS use with aftertouch ... The motionsensing in the ps controller is a feature... just a feature. It IS a good one though.

Personally i think that every person who says the SIXAXIS is broken or a bad controller.. they lack the will to accept the innovation. Or they simply havent tried the good games.

I know i mentioned lair but i got it recently and the controls are quite good. They have only annoyed me a few times but thats because the dragon flys to the side if its about to hit something and doesent stop unless you command it too. :P

It was not just the control that Lair down it looks very boring and  The graphics looked ordinary in Lair repetitive.

BTW Dual Shock 3 is a lot better than the standard light as a feather Six-Axis controller

LOL. Lair sucked mostly because it was uncontrollable. And yes before the patch. Some people will keep plugging a dead game. Also what innovation? They got worried about Wii and chucked it in last minute.

Its not all about the games. Its just about being able to sell it with the motion controllers.

This is the perfect way to stop the Wii. They dont need to make money, or sell these controllers to everyone.

The PS3/360 are more powerful, have better graphics, have a better games library, and better motion controls. Why would any buy a Wii, other than for exclusive Nintendo games. It has no HDD, horrible online interface, etc.

Thats what its all about. On top of that, you could even port third part Wii games to XBL and PSN. The Wii losing exlusive(functional) motion sensing support takes away a huge selling point. It would have to sell on pure quality and popularity of games with less processing power, worse graphics, and no HDD. I

Motion control should be optional and you can have the choice to play the game with the good old controller.

Sorry but super-rub-a-dub uses the six axis brilliantly. Everyone

1. But that's Microsoft's and Sony's biggest problem. These exclusive Nintendo games are the main reason why the system is selling, because the Wii's success is based on the hardware (Wiimote, Nunchuk) incorporating with the software (games). Why else do you think could the Wii become as popular as it is? It's Nintendo's games working perfectly with the controller.

Copying one half of this, will lead Microsoft and Sony nowhere. And trying to copy both parts will take years to catch up to what the Wii already has right now.

2. This part is really funny. As is pretty much known, the quality of 3rd party games on the Wii is for the most part mediocre to horrible, so how would porting these games to XBL and PSN really hurt the Wii?

The Wii IS already selling on pure quality and popularity of games with less processing power, worse graphics, and no HDD. And the Wii is dominating.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Yeah I think in some ways its too late. Nintendo does have quality that is unmatched by anyone. The issue is the uninformed parent who is going to the store. Or the "informed" fan who doesn't know what they are talking about.

If the Wii and PS3/360 are the same price, you can sell the HD consoles with limited effort, unless the person is seeking out Nintendo products. Its a certainty if these controllers come out they will be as advanced or more so than the Wii-mote. It is also certain that they will come with some sort of Wii Sports rip off bundled.

Thats the problem with doing it first. Both companies can make an exact replica, add one or two features, and claim to have the better version. To gamers like us here we can see that its just desperation for market share, but to someone watching the add on TV or reading it in a magazine you will see only this.

"Wii-like controller with more accurate movements, on a console thats more powerful with more features for $50-$100 more."

And I'm not saying this is the complete end of the Wii. But it would definitely end all dominance depending on how hard they push this controller. They will feed off the Wii, much like the 360 fed off the PS brand and claim to be better. Its not head on competition with Nintendo, more of a leap frog approach.

Lair has some of the most interesting controls for a game for a long time. I have it, it is very controllable unless you lack the ability to move the controller around ...

Atleast I personally have had absolutely no problems with it other than the 15 mins it took to get used to..and i haven't even updated it.

I'm not saying it's a great game... but the controls are deffo a strong point of it.

(i think the acting and story is a little weak though..dragons make up for it XD)
