Edit: moreso, when it comes to Disney Star Wars films, the critic and fan reception has been inversely proportional. Critics say TLJ > TFA > RO, whereas fans say the exact opposite, myself included.

This I definitely agree with. I am quickly finding that my opinion on Star Wars movies is pretty much the opposite of the critics. The critics say TLJ >TFA> Rogue One, but I say Rogue One > TFA >>>>TLJ, lol. It's even true for me with the prequels, I liked them alot more than the critics did; even the worst of the prequels imo, Phantom Menace, is a solid 7.5/10 movie for me, which is higher than my rating for The Last Jedi.

I'd like to remind everyone that the opinions of critics are most definitely not the end all be all of opinions. Critics loved The Last Jedi and gave it an 85 on Metacritic and a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the user scores were only 4.6 on Metacritic and 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that roughly half of all Star Wars fans didn't like it.

Critics not liking Solo as much as The Last Jedi might not mean that it's a worse movie, in fact it might even be a good thing, because in my experience often it is the movies the critics don't like as much that end up being the biggest hits with general audiences.

A lot of that is down to the film being review bombed. Imdb is a bit more indicative of what audiences actually thought.

Ive heard about this review bomb but I feel if the movie was good it would have rebound with good reviews by those who like it

Yeah the prequels are... okay. If I may do rankings, because well, let's be honest this thread will derail there eventually, ( )

Empire Strikes Back > A New Hope > Rogue One > Return of the Jedi > Revenge of the Sith > The Force Awakens > Phantom Menace > Attack of the Clones > The Last Jedi

I only didn't enjoy the last two.

Edit: forgot about TFA lol.

For me it's ROTJ > ESB > Rogue One = ROTS > ANH > AOTC > TFA > TPM >>> TLJ

Out of those, only The Last Jedi is bad enough that I have no plans to ever rewatch it, the rest I like enough that I have seen them multiple times already and will probably rewatch them later.

I'm finding it really hard to care about Disney's Star Wars movies after the Last Jedi. Maybe if they'd found exactly the right guy to play Han Solo, I'd be into this, but holy hell did they botch that casting. Guy doesn't look like Han Solo, doesn't sound like Han Solo, and damn sure appears nowhere near as charismatic as Han Solo. So.....no thanks.

I grew up with Disney...loved their old cartoons.

There days this is the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear Disney:

It did on imdb. It's easier to influence the score on metacritic and rotten tomatoes.

I refuse to believe Solo will be worse than Last Jedi. I can't say i am looking forward to the movie but i won't judge it before seeing it

It baffles me that people rate any of the prequels above the Disney star wars films. The Disney ones have plenty of issues (particularly rogue one) but they are masterpieces compared to any of the prequels.

Yeah. But, no.
