Forums - Gaming Discussion - Capcom FY 2017-2018 Financial Report - MHW at 7.9 millions

Capcom updated their numbers, 8 million as of 4/16, 100k in 2 weeks, using that, it should be at 8.2million as of now

Remember that thread about sales of MHW and people where saying its a nintendo handheld title, it was a mistake to make a homeconsole version for playstation? People where saying it would sell horribly because of that.

Well.... suddenly its the by far best selling Monster Hunter, and even the most selling game Capcom ever made.

It paid off that they put some work into the series, and didnt limit it by hardware.

Sure they can.

But the question here is if it makes sense, and it doesn't. It's still a good game. Enjoyable to play. It just wasn't what some people wanted it to be. It was too action'y. But heck it was a ton of fun to play!

I do agree with you about where they should have gone. I also have no interest in playing RE7 and have checked out from the series until something more akin to the classic games comes around (RE1/2/3/4/5). But, i didnt hate RE6 at all. I just think it felt streched too thin to make the 3 campaigns.

If it's a good or enjoyable game or not depends on who you ask. The general consensus is that RE's quality gradually declined since RE4. It may very well have reached a point of quality that a large enough amount of people that Capcom surveyed were not ok with.

I don't disagree with that, as i said. But it was a fun game. It wasn't a game i wasn't enjoying while playing it. It wasn't a survival horror, and people had issue with that. If they had condensed the 3 campaigns in only one it would've been a much better game imo. But, it wasn't a bad game. Your scores don't show a terrible game either.

Unless you mean the use scores, wich i will have to lol to.

Resident Evil 4 is highly praised and it's not in the top 10?

It was too good for this world. A world that cannot appreciate RE4 does not deserve to exist.

Very good results.

The scores don't show a terrible game, and some times scores don't really reflect what the overall audience feels anyway, as we know. Some highly rated games have been known to cause discord with fans, like MGSV.
But other than how others feel about it on paper, I can only attest to how I felt about it. And I thought it was a pretty bad game for the most part, and it had nothing to do with it not being a survival horror, because I was perfectly fine with that direction since RE4.

After how much fun me and my friend had with the co-op in RE5, we both found ourselves surprisingly unamused about this one. It was more like a chore getting through it, and we never played it together again since. I was planning to give it another go again thanks to New Game + infinite ammo fun, but they somehow managed to botch the infinite ammo mechanic as well. Which was related to the limited item storage system. I had to leave behind more items in this game than any other RE game because of the storage space and system. I wasn't running out of items as I frequently made use of melee attacks, as I normally would. It was just an annoyance.
The only portions of the game I thought were well made were the early portions of Leon's campaign, and certain portions of Sherry's. Which coincidentally (maybe?) also felt the closest to a RE game. In contrast to Chris' campaign that started off with a Call of Duty vibe.

After RE6 I no longer just assumed I'd have a fun enough with the game if the trailer looked interesting enough.
And in spite of FFXIII selling pretty well, Square said it "damaged the FF brand". FFXV also sold fairly well, but SE are aware of fans discontent with what they got and are constantly updating the game. We'll see what it ends up doing for the franchise in the long run, but needless to say when it comes to a franchise, sales numbers are important to reimburse the labor they put into that particular game, but for future entries in the series customer satisfaction rate is very important.
Final Fantasy VIII sold almost as much as FFVII, and more than FF IX, but I don't think that reflects user satisfaction rate, but rather blind trust in the series because of the popularity of FFVII. And I say that as someone who really liked FFVIII, but I'm not going to claim that it was objectively a good game because what's good to one person differs from another.

Well... i enjoyed it. I also played RE5 with a friend and it was great. I played RE6 solo, but i think my criticism makes sense. You got bored because the game was stretched thin to have 3 campaigns and therefore got bored by the padding. I don't think we feel that differently about it. Just the critique is being deliver by different points of view.

As much as i loved RE5, i think the co-op wasn't a good idea for the series as well.

XIII isn't even on the same level. That was a steaming pile of **** game. It was super linear and combat was auto-combat for 99% of it, besides the convoluted story with all these similar word for different things (now that i think about it, it is one of the few game that deserves to be told it's story is convoluted, not complex). RE6 is by far a much better game and that comparison isn't in any way fair.

Just some people were pilling up the hatred that it wasn't survival horror anymore and took it out in the weakest entry since. Makes sense, but it doesn't mean the game was horrible. It was certainly not the best one though.
