Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's New President Has Big Mobile Goals

Lol, why is everyone concerned? This isn't a goal that's too far fetched for Nintendo. They did 300M+ from Fire Emblem alone. If they get 2 games that perform the same way, they're golden.

Nintendo is more than big enough to give focus to both Mobile and their traditional Hardware and Software business. Dragalia lost is a collaboration mostly being handled by a 3rd party and mobile games don't take the same amount of labor to create as a AAA game. They've got this. It'd be silly to continue to ignore the market or not try to get more out of the market like Nintendo's other competitors.

If Switch is the new Wii, mobile is definitely the DS. Strategically speaking

Well, mobile games are basically advertising that makes money instead of costing it.

If they want to make money from mobile games, they need to change their approach quickly. They're taking the mobile section way too seriously. Mobile gamers are casuals who don't care about quality or content. ''Complete'' games like Mario Bros, Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are not gonna do it. It needs to be very simple with small payments to give the player more options. A Dr. Mario puzzle game with microtransactions might be something worth looking into.

Fire Emblem is literally like every other weeb gacha game. It's just more friendly with free currency so that you don't have to spend as much. It also has made a ton of money, and is more profitable than any other game in the series.

Mario Bros was also very well received but didn't sell great because Nintendo doesn't know how to introduce purchases into a non-gacha game. If they would have allowed you buy it by world instead of a $10 wall after a few minutes of play, it would have been a lot more successful.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

As long as it doesn't divert attention away from Switch i don't see the problem with it

I would rather he had big plans for the Switch...

You might be onto something there, Doggo. :)

I'm curious to see Nintendo-based mobile games that are, well, a bit crazier, like the Bash K. Rool minigame from Donkey Konga.

Nintendo used the DS as an island of disruption. The result was the Wii.

Mobile is Nintendo's new island of expansion. They're drawing a lot of power from that platform, and it's gonna continue until it can't anymore..

The more they conquer mobile, the bigger their console business will be.

Smartphone gaming market value/revenue today shits on handheld market value/revenue. Wise decision.

I’m not sure I like the sound of this.

Yeah, I'm not really crazy about this plan either. I'm already plenty fine with Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokemon Go. I don't really want to squeeze another game in there.

Also, that goal one 100 billion yen seems like it'll be a hard one to hit. FEH is probably their only and biggest money maker, and majorly successful games aren't something easily made.
