Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

As I thought with Nintendo's own forecasts (despite them to likely fall short slightly) Switch is going to reach this milestone quicker than May this year.

With the way the Nintendo Switch performed this holiday season Nintendo could report close to N64 numbers already for as of December 31st 2018, with the milestone guaranteed to be passed by the end of their next quarter March 31st 2019.

Well, as of late Switch is sitting at 27.5 million units worldwide, so it's just 8 million away from surpassing the N64. :)

According to Nintendo's official sales data, N64 shipped 32.93 million units world wide in it's lifetime. So wouldn't that put VGChartz sell through figure of 27.5 million as of December 15th 2018 only 5.43 million behind?

I very much prefer Grolsch

32.9m for N64 are Nintendo shipped numbers, so Switch probably surprised that number at end of December with shipped numbers, we will have confirmation at end of this month.

So are you making a timid prediction to try and balance out all of the bold predictions that VGChartz gets?

Nintendo projects 37.79M units will be shipped by March 31st, 2019, and it just needs 32.93M to outsell N64. Also, to beat GameCube's 21.74M by September 30th, 2018, Switch only needs to ship 1.98M per quarter, when it did 2.92M in both of the previous two non-holiday quarters.

Usually when someone says "bold prediction" they mean "a prediction I didn't do any research on and I want to sound profound for making it!" - in other words, they're being pretentious.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This prediction was pretty timid. As could the VGChartz estimations say, if the Switch keep the same pace and sells more than 1 million by the end of december, sold-through numbers could reach 30 millions by the end of 2018, and shipped numbers could be close to 33 millions.

Yes, but I said 8 million so that it'd be outselling the N64.

It'd be outselling the N64 by doing 5.44 million
