Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan sales (Week 17): Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - April 23-29 , 2018

As expected, PS 4 now back below Switch on Amazon Japan after being ahead throughout the past week but still in stock and at RRP ranges. Not likely to sell as much next week.

looks like God of War will beat God of War 3's nearly impossible to reach number of 120k

And wasn't the gow3 number assisted by bundles?

The slim has already sold all it can for this week on Amazon. The next shipment comes on Sunday which is the start of a new week.

Interesting to see Spider-man at #12 this early on. Japan usually isn't the type to pre-order games months in advance, especially a game franchise like Spider-man which hasn't had any success in Japan in the past.

Good to see the supply issue with the PS4 in Japan is over.

Glad to see sales going up. I hope next week (golden week) we get amazing numbers all around.

Btw, I'd wait on calling Labo a flop or something. I think it will get past 1m in Japan over time.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

So odd that after Sony's FY report, stock is magically back. I mean sure they did manage to hit their shipment goal perfectly without going over or under, but now they might be over for this FY.

I think sony flooded the WW market with ps4 except for japan which was a big surprise for them , there was 2.9 million ps4 sitting on store shelves or in transit with the last FY report.

You want to talk about flooding, talk about last year when 3.7m were on shelves. They could have spared a ton to Japan but didn't in order to perfectly hit their shipment target. They also shipped more last year's FY Q4, 2.9m vs 2.5m. Again imo to meet their FY targets.

I think sony made deals to ship to new countries last year, that why they were able to ship so much, this year they don't have that benefit.

PS4 got some fresh supply and that's a bit more in line of what I thought it would be doing without any major promo or releases (~23-26k baseline imo). God of War had a great second week. Should be the best selling one in the series in Japan.

Labo has done pretty badly, but it's an very experimental product. It's fair that not everything Nintendo tries is a commercial giant out of the gate.

PowerPro baseball has pretty good word of mouth so I imagine that it'll have some good legs.
