Nintendo is returning to the E3 video game trade show in June with fan-favorite activities and new features to keep watchers around the world and attendees in Los Angeles engaged and having fun. As in recent years, Nintendo will focus its E3 activities on games coming soon, with a special spotlight given to a key headlining title: the recently announced Super Smash Bros. game coming to the Nintendo Switch system this year. Games launching beyond 2018 will be featured at a later date.

The festivities kick off with two days of high-level competitive action at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. On Monday, June 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT, qualifying teams representing the United States/Canada, Japan, Europe and Australia/New Zealand will ink their way to glory in the opening rounds of the Splatoon 2 World Championship tournament. The finals will take place the following day on Tuesday, June 12, immediately followed by the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 tournament, which will pit invited players against each other in the recently announced Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch. A few fans who come dressed as their favorite Nintendo character on June 12 may be chosen to play the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game on stage in exhibition play. Tickets will be issued on-site at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles each day of the event. Additional details about how fans can attend in-person will be shared in the future. At 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday, June 12, Nintendo will debut a video presentation* featuring games releasing in 2018, including the recently announced Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch. Right after the presentation, Nintendo Treehouse: Live | E3 2018 will begin three days of live gameplay, appearances by developers and an insider look at games, starting with the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch. June 12-14, visitors to Nintendo’s booth at the Los Angeles Convention Center will be able to play a variety of games, including the recently announced Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch. Additionally, some of the most noteworthy upcoming third-party games on Nintendo Switch will be featured across several Nintendo activities throughout the week.

Streaming content will be shown live at the Nintendo NY store, starting on June 11 with the Splatoon 2 World Championship opening rounds. And June 12-15, visitors to the store will be among the first to play a selection of games shown at Nintendo’s booth during E3.

“Every year we take a look at E3 and craft the best experience for our fans, regardless of whether they are attending the show or watching from afar,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We expect that each of our E3 activities will give an additional boost to the already strong momentum enjoyed by Nintendo Switch.”

Before all people start freaking around about Games launching beyond 2018 will be "featured" at a later date, part, have on mind that Nintendo used similar (not same) wording for last E3 and some previous Directs and we always get more than they said we will, so I again definitely expect few 2019. announcements/showings in any case.

Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime will probably launch in 2019, so I don't expect we will see them on presentation.

Since this E3 will only focus on games coming out in 2018, my predictions, besides the obvious Smash Bros.:
- Animal Crossing
- Fire Emblem
- Mario Party
- Retro's new game
- More Wii U ports (Wonderful 101, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Pikmin 3 to name a few.)

I dont think Nintendo will show/talk about Wii U ports at E3, they are far more Direct material, they did not show even last E3 any Wii U port.

My prediction/Hope's:
-Remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles (the wii game) (1&2 on same system = yes)
-Port of Super Mario Galaxy I + II
-Fire Emblem game
-Paper Mario
-Professor Layton

Probably put spotlight on 4 games, all of them releasing in 2018. I think these games will be Yoshi(August), Animal Crossing(September), Fire Emblem(October) and Smash(November. I also expect other smaller 1st party announcements

Probably going to be a few third-party announcements, rumor has it Fortnite will come to Switch and i wouldn't be shocked if GTA5 happen

Smash, Yoshi, Fire Emblem... these three will most certainly be there and they will be the main focus of the presentation.

That being said, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 have lots of chances of being showed as well... but since these titles are relatively early in development, we would get just a trailer.

We should also expect two or three new announcements. I mean, this is E3 after all. I could see them showing a big third party exclusive game and one or two new first party titles. Pokémon or Animal Crossing would be nice bets. I also would like to say that the new Retro Studio's game might see the light at last... but since every year we say the same and it never happens, I'll remain skeptical about that one.

All in all... I think Nintendo will have a great E3. Even if they only show things we already know they're coming, given what those titles are (Metroid, Smash, Bayonetta, Fire Emblem...) many people will be quite happy with just that. But if they add some new things to the table, it will just get even better. There's no way this will be bad. At worst, it will be decent. At best, it can be one of the best recent E3s for Nintendo.

I don't think they'll show off Yoshi that much. We know it exists for quite a while now, and even if Yoshi games sell well, they're not that big to occupy a place on their E3 Direct twice. Besides, how much did they show Wooly World? I don't recall it being on the main presentation two years in a row.

I expect that Smash and Mario Tennis will be their main focus on this year's E3. And there will be another big holiday title announced.
