Labo numbers are just meh, really. Especially given the advertising push Nintendo gave it. And the sell through percentage (70%-80% could still be sitting on shelves.) It also didn't do what Nintendo really wanted it to do, and that's push HW. Now, I agree that legs will determine its success. However, anyone claiming it's off to a good start is really reaching.

Its a fine start.

Brain Age, Nintendogs, Wii Sports & Wii Fit all debuted  between 50-250k and had lifetime sales of 2-4 million.

If people fail to look at the fact that the PS4 Pro is 2x sales of the slim and still question stock issues for the PS4 in Japan, they are not worth your time. Pretty bad week overall, Switch -15k from last year (when it HAD stock issues and a new release this week), 3DS and Vita <10k combined, PS4 stock constrained, hopefully Golden week shows some better numbers

I do believe that PS4 is stock constrained going by various online stores. Although the Pro selling more this week is not really the best indicator since that includes the GoW limited edition that was available for pre-ordering and it launched this week with the game, which will most likely explain why it sold more than Slim this week.

If we based it with the numbers below. It's pretty telling of the stock situation and to expand on it. Slim is doing 15K last year.
PlayStation 4 Pro – 8,967 (1,473)
PlayStation 4 – 4,480 (9,491)

Anyway, I think Slim could be doing 9K - 15K without a stock problems
PS4 might not sell like 25K and up but IMO PS4 could be doing 17K-24K weekly.

If i'm reading the Famitsu report correctly, there are a lot of Labo kits waiting to be sold still on shelves. 20-40% sell through whereas God of War had 60-80%

https://www.famitsu.com/biz/ranking/

Should also be noted that Famitsu has a more even 5.4k/6.4k split between PS4 and PS4 pro.

A flop is a flop, regardless of sell through.

I believed GOW 3 sold 43K FW.
And GOW PS4 sold 46K with digital sales it could be  at 50K or more so i think it didn't flop by series standards and as per Faelco Sony didn't bother advertising GOW in Japan and doing 50K is actually good.

Well, I'd argue that sell through is by far the most important factor to determining a flop, though obviously the first week sales are only a small part of that. Still, Labo can't just be sitting on retailer shelves for months and months until the holidays.  They're rather large in size so they take up a lot of room and their retail price doesn't really justify it. If over Golden Week (so two weeks from now) Labo is still sitting at ~50% sell through then I'd expect it to get some big discounts in the summer just so retailers can get it off their shelves.

So the 50K mentioned by Kadokawa for Metal Max Xeno were shipped. Good result anyway, and Vita keeping that 30% marketshare.

Labo's sellthrough doesn't seem to be a problem. The stock was prepared and accepted by retailers with Golden Week in mind. The first week is correct, and sales should remain high.

What bugs me is PS4. Sales of Pro doesn't vary much but Slim is slowly disappearing from the market. Why? Does Sony want to make Pro the only PS4 or are they changing the Slim?

Yeah.... But that doesn't work for all games. Labo included. Need to understand more about certain titles

Again, if Labo is up to 60-80% sell through by Golden Week then I'd say it's doing its job.

Dengeki reports that after its first week it's at 25% sell through. That is not good at all, no matter how you slice it. God of War is 65% which isn't all that great either.

Yep. Amazon JP seems to have full stock of the slim and is even selling at a 5% discount. It has been #3 in the ranking for quite some time. Will be curious to see if MC shows any recovery next week.

So it sold 25% and if it doesnt sell 35%-55% (with extra shipments coming in for a few stores) its not doing its job?

Can you stop pushing weird goal post like this. If the games sell same price and take a month or even 2 to sell through all that intitial shipment its fine. Your expecting around 200k extra sales in 2 weeks. Calm down, it doesnt NEED to do anything
