As noted already, the native resolution of the Switch screen is 720 and hence it makes no sense to render it higher.  Technically, it could but you'd lose battery life.....which leads us to the other "$10" point.  Undocked means completely portable.  Can the Wii U version do that?

A bump in resolution.
A decrease in load times.
A portable experience.

For $10 more.

yeh I dont buy that one bit.  charging 10 dollars more for a 4 year old port is bs

Dude, did you forget about the new playable character, Funky Kong? He completely changes the game. Honestly, I'm surprised they aren't charging 10$ just to use him.

I'm tired of seeing people complain about the ports and the price of ports. If you don't think it's worth that amount of money, don't buy it. If you do, buy it. It's that simple. You're getting a portable experience and a console experience all in one. It's like ... two separate games for one price! Like A Way Out. This game totally deserves the 60$ price tag, in fact with the Funky Kong added it is more like a 70$ value. And since you can play it portably and console-ly it's more like a 140$. You can't beat that logic.

LOL Thought you were being serious at first

I can't wait for this game, I really wanted this port since I didn't own a Wii U, the price isn't a problem, with Amazon Prime savings it'll cost 55€, I don't understand why it wasn't full price on Wii U in the first place (I mean, I kinda do since the Wii U wasn't selling well)

The switch undocked is more powerful than the wii U right?
Then why does the resolution fall to 720 the same as wii U when undocked.

In general paying $10 more 4 years later where the biggest advantage is a resolution bump (if docked) and saving seconds on loading times - is not impressive to me.

The game is good, the price is horrible.

Those are nice perks but i still dont think it justifies costing more than the original release.

Damn wait it cost $10 LESS on Wii U??

Wow that's crazy. Yeah considering it was $50 on Wii U if anything this game should be $40 on the Switch. Hopefully it gets poor sales and then Nintendo drops price to $40 by the holidays.

By far my favorite game of all time. Glad they fixed the horrendous loading times and bumped the resolution for docked mode.

I don't mind paying 10$ more for portability. Having this on the go is a blessing.

Nintendo is getting up with the times. And perhaps they just wanted to make a quick port with minor improvements as a lot of cross gen do.

Remasters on other systems cost $40.

I don't mind the price though, wasn't interested anyways. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a different story.

Tomb Raider was 60 dollars

Last of Us was 60 dollars

GTAV was 60 dollars

Do not act like this does not happen on all three...it does.

How can a 720p screen render higher than 720p? That doesn’t make sense to me.

The screen itself doesn't but the image is rendered internally at the higher resolution and then reduced back to the screen resolution.  It's a form of anti-aliasing but it's very taxing on hardware...more so than any other form of AA.

Here is the difference supersampling can make.

Ah, I see. So it’s blending the pixels. E.G. if you had a screen of 5 pixels across, but the image was 6 pixels, 3 blue, 3 brown, the supersampling would essentially blend the middle pixel to be blue and brown.

Is that correct?

I think what threw me off is the word "render"

To be fair supersampling on 6.2" screen loose purpose, not to mention that rendering at higher resolution would kill battery even faster.

I dont agree with it costing more than the original release but i definitely dont want it to fail. The game is amazing and is totally worth the asking price and deserves to sell far better than it did on Wii U.
