EDIT

So biggest advantage is 1080p in docked mode and much faster loading times compared to Wii U version of game.

"The visual design works well at 720p and the bump to 1080p allows smaller details to shine but it might surprise you how subtle the jump in pixel count can appear in many scenes. Aside from these minor visual tweaks and the increase in resolution, there isn't much else in the way of visual enhancements."

"Visuals aside, there is another major enhancement worth discussing - loading times. Starting the game has a 40 second loading time with DKC running from disc on Wii U, which is cut down to a mere 11 seconds on Switch."

So a minor upgrade in graphics, but it loads a lot faster. Wish they'd thrown in DKC: Returns with it, considering it's a full price release.

Then why does the resolution fall to 720 the same as wii U when undocked.

Because the Switch's screen resolution is 720?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I was looking forward to it but I'll wait for a price cut. The package itself is honestly a rip-off.

Though running at a higher resolution than the display still has benefits. Still I'd rather have better battery life than supersampling when undocked.

The switch undocked is more powerful than the wii U right?

In general paying $10 more 4 years later where the biggest advantage is a resolution bump (if docked) and saving seconds on loading times - is not impressive to me.

The game is good, the price is horrible.

Nintendo is getting up with the times. And perhaps they just wanted to make a quick port with minor improvements as a lot of cross gen do.

That's nice. Still not paying more than I did for the WiiU one though...

I'd even have been fine with it being $50. Which even then is fairly absurd. Charging full price for a 4 year old game with no new content, and few changes.

But to charge MORE than they did before? Perhaps the cartridge is to blame. Another Cartridge fee/tax at work?

The game is great though, and better loading times is always nice. But at that price, oof mega pass.

I have to agree with you, even more because MS and Sony usually go for a 40 USD for a lot of the remasters/packages/remake or at least doesn't make it more pricey than the original... but who knows the cost structure or projections from Nintendo, perhaps at 40 or less they thought the profit would be lower.

Graphically the game on Wii u is beautiful, the only problem I have seen are loading times. Sometimes I do not understand the obsession with the details in the graphics and much less in this kind of games.

Anyway, I like the game a lot and probably buy it again at Switch at some point.

So the resolution on the switch can't ever go higher than 720?

I didn't know that - thank you.

edit: Actually I probably did know that, it just didn't occur to me.  Makes a lot of sense.

What?

The handheld screen is 720p native

When docked it can go up to 1080p for the TV.
