Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sonic Mania tops 1m worldwide sales

Thats great news!It would be nice to have a console breakdown though, but Im fine with this!

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

This is actually less than I expected. Sonic Generations sold around 2m in the same amount of time, and it was more expensive on release than Mania was. Of course Generations had a physical release and Mania didn't. Hopefully the Mania physical release sells well this Summer.

Generations was designed to have a much wider appeal, Mania is a 2d game with Sega Genesis graphics, it just doesn't have a wide enough appeal.

Which is why even forces has sold more, sadly.

Was generations also available later in japan?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Well done. It should sell way more however. It is a good game. A good Sonic game for once.

Wow, it thought it would had already reached that milestone, I wonder what the percentage breakdown is.

I wonder if 1 million units sold is enough to make them want to continue making games like Mania?
I really thought they would have sold more copies than that. In any case in the future I will only be interested in Mania-like games when it comes to Sonic.

If a 2D Platformer selling 1 million and counting (I believe all digital and various collector's editions) isn't enough I'm not sure what Sega was expecting.

Still waiting on Shadow DLC. What's taking so long Sega!?

Congrats Sonic for getting in shape, and congrats Switch audience for the strong support.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

And probably 50% of those sales are in Switch. On Xbox One it's probably not more than 5%

On the other hand, I thought the game had sold more than that.
