So it lost it gore and guts

My launch day Pro never caused any problems

Plenty of blood being spilled. Perhaps the Ps4's appetite has being satiated, lol. Blood for the blood God.

But we lost part of the soundtrack =p

Your console probably had a poor thermal jobby at the factory, my three year current ps4 is quieter than a brand spanking new one.

The 1200 SKU (the completely matte, non slim one, are the most silent.

My CUH 1200 sounded slightly hearable before. Bit more silent now, but I could be imagining things. It never was loud to begin with.

I really hope they implement liquid cooling on the future PS5 which is my understanding that it would mean the end of the noisy fan cooling. Also If the could add an SSD hard drive it would be great.

1.12 addressed the text, 1.13 is just for bugs I think.

Indeed. Updated OP. Can't find what 1.13 actually did but from the smooth sound of my PS4 it did something significant.

If your PS4 really sounded not smooth (or a chainsaw even) it sounds more like dust or bearing problem at the fan.

maybe there was a bit of dirt which caused the fan to run unsteady.

Hmm, that is odd. Why would it be a fix for some and not others? Different models? What exactly is the deal o.0?

There rev indeed vast differences in noise level between the different SKUs (1000, 1100, 1200 = PS4 ; 2000, 2100 = Slim and 7000, 7100 Pro)

Additionally there are two different fan types of which one is more silent than the other.

Liquid isn’t sensible cost wise, neither is an SSD as standard.

Vapour chamber makes sense and no one stops out to put an SSD in your PS4/PS5.

Doesn't the Xbox One X have liquid cooling?

Also if a Vapor chamber would mean no more fan noise, I'm totally good with it.

And SSD has been around for a few years and there is still a couple years before the PS5 release so it stands to reason to believe that by then SSD memory should be cheaper. Personally I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a PS5 that comes equipped with SSD memory.
