Forums - Gaming Discussion - How many of you guys buy duplicate games?

I do this a lot.  I figured I'd ask about it, and see if I'm the only one.  But, for various reasons, I rebuy the same game.  No, I'm not talking about remakes, or hd re-releases.

I mean, on release. I bought both physical and digital versions of Street Fighter V on PS4, and a 3rd time digital for PC.  I've bought GTAV on PS3, PS4, and PC.  I've pre-ordered Tekken 7 on PC and PS4.  I've... bought puyo puyo tetris on PS4, PSVita, Nintendo Switch, and I'm just now remembering I most recently bought it on Steam.  However, to my defense, I never expected the game to release outside of japan, and I wanted to play it on the go.

Is anyone else doing this?  Or, am I just crazy?

Nope, only buy the games once. If you counted hd remasters I would have quite a few. But I only buy the one digital copy, never physical.

let's see. Not including HD remasters or remakes:

  1. Splinter Cell: Double Agent for PS2, PS3, XB and 360.
  2. Splinter Cell: Blacklist for PS3 and 360
  3. Fantastic Four 4 for PS2 and GC
  4. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for Wii and PS3
  5. Spider-Man 3 for Wii and PS3
  6. WWF Royal Rumble for SNES and MD
  7. WWF War Zone for PS1 and N64
  8. WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw 2006 for PS2 and PSP
  9. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 for PS2 and PSP
  10. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 for Wii and PS3
  11. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 for PS3 and PSP
  12. Minority Report: Everybody Runs for XB and PS2
  13. Medal of Honor: Airborne for PS3 and PC
  14. Tomb Raider: Legend for PS2 and PC
  15. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for Wii and PS3
  16. College Hoops: NCAA 2K7 for PS2 and PS3
  17. Crash Nitro Kart for PS2 and XB
  18. Tangled for Wii and DS
  19. Fallout 3 for PS3 and PC
  20. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PS2 and PSP
  21. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for Wii and PS3
  22. Half-Life 2 for XB and PC
  23. Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne for PS2 and PC
  24. MLB 08: The Show for PS2 and PS3
  25. Quake 4 for 360 and PC
  26. Ready 2 Rumble Boxing for PS1 and N64
  27. Resident Evil 5 for PS3 and 360
  28. Spider-Man for PS2 and XB
  29. The Orange Box for 360 and PC
  30. TNA Impact for PS2 and PS3
  31. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for PS1 and N64
  32. WCW Mayhem for PS1 and N64
So, I guess I have around 32 examples. However, I didn't get any of these games on release to my knowledge, nor did I get them at the same time. SO if we're talking about getting multiple versions of the game on release, then that doesn't apply to me.

Man, I don't even want to think about it. I'll just give you an example:

I bought Batman Arkham Asylum for PS3.

Right before Arkham City came out, I bought the 360 version.

When I bought Arkham City for Xbox 360, it came with a free version of Arkham Asylum.

I then bought Arkham City for the Wii U.

I bought Arkham Origins for the Wii U but it was missing some features.

I bought Arkham Origins for PS3 since it was the best version.

I bought Arkham Knight for PS4.

I then bought Return to Arkham on PS4.

There was an amazing sale in Return to Arkham so I bought it again on Xbox One.

Arkham Origins became backwards comp so I bought it again on Xbox One.

I wanted the whole series on one console so I bought Arkham Knight on Xbox One.

And somewhere in there, I bought the digital version of Arkham Knight PS4 even though I had the physical version. So.. yeah.

Hmm, you might as well get Arkham City for the PS3, Arkham Origins for the 360 and all of the games on PC to complete the collection.

I try not to do it a lot, but I have 2 versions of Steins;Gate (Vita and PS4) and 3 versions of Steins;Gate 0 (Vita EN, Vita JP, PS4 JP). And a few Neptunia games that I got on Vita and bought on sales for Steam too.

I have 4 copies of Final Fantasy XV.... All on PS4 hahaha.

Sometimes I buy a game, trade it in after completing it, then buy it again a few years later when it's down to $10 or less.

I seldom buy games again to play on another system. Ico was an exception as I was just moving from Europe to Canada at the time. Remakes sure, and sometimes when a digital game comes out in a physical collection like Journey and flower.

eh I used to, but not anymore really.

You are pure evil!

Did I mention I have Arkham Blackgate on 3DS and Xbox 360, too?
