Dude, you're wrong. Look at the numbers on the front page. Consoles sell to people every week. So for example, there were over 100,000 Xbox360 consoles sold. Most of them went to people who didn't already own a console. So yea, it doesn't have to sell to Wii owners... It has to sell to potential xbox360 owners. BTW, when I paid over a grand for PS2's because they kept breaking it was my choice (DRE and other crap). I doubt that apart from Sony fanboys, people aren't hugely bothered by the reliability thing.

I would choose a XBox 360 Elite before a Nintendo Wii for a second console to go with my PS3. Wii is good but the games do not have the HD graphics that is the most important thing to me.

But what does HD mean? Is it Higher Def - More than 480p - Wii fits in here. Is it Mid Def - More 480p and less 1080p or aprox 720p or there abouts - Most Xbox360 or PS3 games. Is it Full HD - A couple of current gens + All pc titles can be run at this res pretty much. Is it Super HD - Currently maxing out at 4 megapixels or 2560/1600 - No machine can play this res well yet. Edit: Why not just get a phat pc graphics card instead? You'd be moving into the wonderful world of FULL HD for every title. Edit2: If graphics were the number one concern of yours you'd get a PC as your main weapon. Since its not then I guess there are other factors at play here as well.

Wii is 480p. Not more than.

480p is called Enhanced Definition its the same resolution as standard DVD which we have had since...1995.

However you bring up some valid points. The original Xbox had quite a few 720p and 1080i games. Was it an HD console? Infact I believe the LOWEST resolution you could make a Xbox game in was 480p. Heck, even the PS2 had a couple of 720p and 1080i games.

It's been doing that for what 4 months tops? And PS3 has dropped significantly in Japan. Almost into single thousand figures. Whats to say 360 doesnt have a good 4 months with killer apps from sumer onwards? And the next price drop will put it into everyones price range. 

 

All the consoles have been bashed and criticized. Why would one console should not have its haters as well as it supporters. That is with every thing in life and Xbox is no different. Of course it doesn't help its case when millions of them die on you over a two year span, at least.

But honestly, I can't even remember one particular hardware product that has such a horrible failure rate but to continue to prosper as it has done. It is quite an impressive feat. I mean if Microsoft didn't put the money into bring the biggest names in gaming to its platform, I honestly believe that it wouldn't be in the market today. But because of the so many compelling games that people have invested in and bought, it literally looked death in the face and spit in it. Hate them or no, you have to give them credit in knowing how learn from their and others mistakes. It will always come down to the software support on your system that keeps it going.

More important than gameplay? So, would you play an HD game with terrible gameplay BEFORE you would play a masterpiece like SMG or Metroid?
