[PS4] Ni no Kuni II – 4,184 / 87,251 Fairing pretty good considering one is a late 3DS port and the other is a new big budget title, no wonder level 5 decided to support Switch with all their main games from here on out. |
1 was made for Japan. While the other is only alive due to the west. No wonder level 5 decided to choose PS4 for Ni no Kuni 2.

You are actually surprised that one week before God of War enters the map (I assume they have bundles announced like everywhere), sales drop significantly?

In case you missed it the source is famitsu. https://www.famitsu.com/biz/ranking/ "PlayStation 4, which still does not solve shortage, only sold 13 thousand vehicles in total for 2 models." - Vehicles!!!!! |
What strikes me is that "stock problems" are only in Japan.

Indeed, but I'm still they want the full sales potential by releasing multi-platform from now on in Japan with a Switch version (which is also doing big in the west). I mean the DS version of Ni no Kuni sold 540k in Japan! I'm sure they want to tap into the huge handheld market in Japan, especially considering how pretty much all of their games are Anime inspired with the most successful ones (Layton, Yo-kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven and even Snack World) having their own shows. Their now current focus on Switch/PS4 was definitely a no brainier.

Multiplatform always seems like the best choice. Even when a lot of japanese companies were releasing on PS4/Vita/PS3 the Vita version always seemed to be competitive, but now support is dropping. For some reason japanese companies don't like multiplat that much whether it be a dying platform like Vita or a new budding platform like Switch.
Man, the hardware side is REALLY weak on all fronts this week.
