Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Shinya Takahashi teases possible Wave Race return !

Any return of Waverace better take a cue from the first game, rather than continue the direction Blue Storm went.

The water needs solidity, the levels need to read clearly, the colors need to pop, and the music needs to call forth that dreamy '85-'95 pop culture fascination with Miami Beach.

Shinya Takahashi inherited Shigeru Miyamoto's job as general producer at Nintendo, so his statement can't be brushed off as meaningless. It's essentially the most powerful position when it comes to greenlighting games and deciding on their direction, although he might not have exactly as much say as Miyamoto used to have, because Miyamoto seemed to be able to do just about anything he wanted.

Makes sense since he pretty much made the company what it is today.

Since Nintendo is now focused on one device and they need to fill out a spread out roster of games, I could see this happen for the NS.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

This and 1080 need to happen. It has been too long and I miss arcade type games.

I wonder if they could put in them enough content to make a single title nowdays or if they could make a 1080-Wave Race double pack

I never owned Wave Rave 64 but I've played it and it was a fun racing title, it would be nice to see it make a comeback.

Signature goes here!

Be great to see Wave Race and other franchises make comebacks on Switch - concentrating their development resources on a single machine should allow Nintendo to make a wider variety of titles.

That's what I was thinking. Instead making two separate titles that would end up lacking content for a physical release game... they could just make a single game with two playing modes: 1080 and Wave Race. Heck, they could even include some Excitebikes/trucks/whathever and make a pretty well rounded three game-pack!

I was playing Riptide on xb and I was thinking about how awesome it would be if a new wave race came out, that was so fun with friends and just to play. This would be a great game to release on any system, I would buy it.

If we can get a new Wave Race, Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime on Switch this will easily be the best Nintendo system in history
