Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Labo is trending below GameStop’s expectations

Will you buy Labo?

Yes, day one 9 8.82%

Yes, eventually 13 12.75%

No 80 78.43%

Total:102

This doesn't mean much unfortunately when they don't say what their expectations were.

Yeah expensive cardboard, not like it comes with any interactive software or anything...

It's not a software worth $ 80. So yeah, it's basically an overpriced cardboard.

You've played the software? And the variety kit is $70, most new Switch titles are $60, so $10 is too much for cardboard that interacts with the hardware/software??

That's if you assume the software is worth 60$...

Yup the software looks like free mobile  game on your phone, with cardboard.

Very odd that there's been no pre-release reviews so far and it's going to launch in a little over a day ...

Lol.

I have a feeling the average customer at GameStop is about 10 years too old to enjoy Labo.

1-2 Switch is selling for $50 and it's nearing 2 million sold. Kirby Star Allies selling for $60 has done 400k in Japan alone, likely over a million worldwide. Not being worth the asking price was a popular consensus for these games. Don't get me wrong though, I agree with said consensus. Of course, the Labo kits be higher priced, but also higher quality than 1-2 Switch and longer lasting than Star Allies.

No, I haven't played it and probably wouldn't do it, because it's not something I'm interested to try. The price for almost every new game is around $60, but the cost to develop the biggest titles are >$50-100M, so it's OK. Labo is a software a small indie studio could develop with a very low budget, and the costs for the designers, researchers, etc that designed the peripheric it's probably not THAT much... so yeah, $70-80 is an overpriced cardboard (even though the value of a game doesn't depends on the costs of its development).

Newsflash, TOYS are generally "overpriced" (especially name brand ones Lego, Barbie, etc)..that's just what Labo is, an interactive TOY. Of course you wouldn't be interested in it unless you're like 11. Not sure why so many on here are bellyaching about something that isn't intended for them.
