I don't know. I guess you can call anything a toy if you want. Its like with art.

Yep, that is the way it goes. Some would even call the Video Gaming Consoles you hold in such high esteem Toys.

I guess anything you play with for fun (or pleasure) is considered a toy.

Probably only in Japan will do 100k+ in first week.

Well if you are right then I would say that is a HUGE success for Labo. It's a very niche product that obviously is not a normal product for gamers and will only appeal to kids (a very small part of Switch's userbase), people who are really into creating stuff (also probably a very small part of the userbase considering that it is still a child's toy), and children who convince their Switch owning parents to get it which is where it could possibly see decent sales from.

I couldnt call that huge succes but thats far from fail in any case, I also agree that Labo isnt normal gaming product that can have plenty of preorders like its case with normal games from core gamers beacuse its aimed to kids/parent market that still small on Switch, and I think that Labo succes lies in longer run espacily during holiday season.

One of their most successful products of the last few years is their series of statuettes - Amibo.  So, I doubt this will be the end of non-game stuff from Ninty, regardless of how well it sells.  That's unfortunate.

What’s unfortunate about it? Nintendo has done this since ROB the Robot, heck way before they started getting into video games. It’s part of their DNA. They will still have developers making the big games, but it doesn’t stop them from experimenting and finding new ways to play games.

I suppose you're right.  It doesn't really negatively affect me.  I just DGAF about non-VG stuff from Ninty.

Meanwhile in Japan.....

When I first saw the concept of Labo I thought it would be a dud. Later on, after all the media hype, I thought it could sell 3 million. However now, I am not sure. I still think I am predicting a bit blind.  I am going to say it will sell 1-3 million. Making it a dud in terms of system selling power but it will be a profitable game. The game is being made by the 1-2 Switch team so it is not like this game took the place of a game I would want. So it being a dud doesn't really affect me.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Labo team has a new game ready early next year as well.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Well, it's bassically an expensive cardboard, how much could you expect from that?
To be fair, this kind of product it's aimed to kids and it's not something you get hyped for, so I expect it to sell an stable amount of units every week in the long term, but I hope it doesn't become a success, because... it's just an expensive cardboard.

Yeah expensive cardboard, not like it comes with any interactive software or anything...

It's not a software worth $ 80. So yeah, it's basically an overpriced cardboard.
