Forums - Gaming Discussion - What happened to "SQAURE ENIX" after Ps2 era?

Basically FFXIV 1.0 failure and the development hell of 2.0 killed every single other projects after the PS2 gen.
SquareSoft also diversified it's offering by acquiring a lot of other companies, starting with Enix, but also less likened studios (ie: Crystal Dynamics).
After that they finally started to manage properly, which probably lessened their studios'"soul". They went from managing a few studios to being an gigantic editor after all.

Ah? Bar trash like the XIII "saga", SE still makes a lot of great games - including my GOTY 2017, NieR Automata, for example.

"made" NieR Automata.

then I guess by that logic Nintendo "made" Banjo-Kazooie

Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda Muda!!!!

They bought Eidos, which is was of the best moves in the gaming industry.

Batman Arkham Asylum
Just Cause 2
Just Cause 3
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Sleeping Dogs
Hitman Absolution
Hitman
Tomb Raider
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Thief
Life is Strange

All very good games.

It's cause Sakaguchi produced a disaster like "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within" and thank lord he's gone ...

after the changes to FF, I dont care much about anything they do, besides Tomb Raider. Thats.... that is about it.

Sakaguchi worked on what is one of the biggest BO failure of all time.

He pretty much failed only once during his career but it cost the company and partners a crapload of money. So he eventually left.

Such a shame he had to leave, because the quality of FF games haven't been the same since.

You must be trolling. Sure, Spirits Within was a passion project of Sakaguchi that should have never been green-lit. But when he left Square Soft, he took his creative magic with him and Square hasn't made a great game since.

If anyone needs/needed to be fired at Square. It's F***ING TETSUYA NOMURA

Yeah, I guess after the Ps2 Era, they just couldn't replicate something as good as The Bouncer ever again.

Love the bouncer, such great memories.

Nier Automata is a Square-Enix game made in collaboration with Platinum Games. It was directed by the original game's director Yoko Taro, from Square-Enix. He is one of many Square-Enix staffers who worked on the game in key production positions.

Nier Automata is, for all intents and purposes, a Square-Enix game.
