If Xbox One has a successor, Xbox 2 probably a subscribe service like Steam.

Ryan is wrong, Sony started cultivating 1st party support since the original PS, it didn´t only start with the PS3.

I think he mean Sony First party started making game of a higher caliber during the PS3 era moving away from goofy platformers. Most of their studios upgraded last gen and now Santa Monica has as well, while MS studios are still making Gear, Halo, Forza with no sign of change

Now show me the games.

Give up, guys. This man has been nothing but talk all gen. You know what's a good idea? It's time the head of xbox should be someone who's japanese. Through him, xbox can be a success in Japan again with the right strategy

Santa Monica is Sony's top tier studio since 6th gen. They didn't need to upgrade last gen at all, they were among the best. They are on a different level this gen once again Sony's top developer.

Does anyone here know how many studios Xbox has compared to Sony?

Also, if Phil Spencer were to decide that, in response to GOW, they´d make something similar, which one of their studios would he most likely pick to make the game?

To be fair, it's not like they've done nothing at all. It's just that a lot of what they've done hasn't worked all that well, at least not when compared to the competition.

They've spent tons of money on new studios for Halo and Gears. They invested heavily in Quantum Break. They've gone out and contracted acclaimed 2nd party developers for new IP or to work on existing IP.

The results just haven't panned out as well as hoped.

Yeah, no. That is all BS.

Sony invested a lot into new studios, new games, and making sure they had good relationships with a lot of companies.

Microsoft has been spending money on timed exclusives, closing studios, and cancelling games. Any relationship to japan/JRPGs feels completely gone.

Xbox had the same 10 years. And they have done nothing, they are actually gotten worse over time not better. They have cancelled big titles like Scalebound, and Fable. Crackdown 3 is no where to be seen.

I think there is a chart about E3 announcements where Microsoft is announcing, less and less. And instead of spending that money on better relationships, risky games, or new studios - they are buying timed exclusives to Tomb raider, and PUBG.

This is what makes me think Xbox is along way away from doing games the same quality as Sony is atm.
Their actions speak much louder than their words at this point.

People who like Xbox should hope MS isn't merely eyeballing GOW as something to be emulated, while Sony's studios continue to push forward with new ip's and ideas. They're already trying to squirt out a Horizon clone, which is kind of another sign that they don't "get it". I realize that there are going to be elements that bind games in the same genre, and even across different genres. But the best results seem to come from endeavors that are more organic in their origins, as opposed to corporately mandated, focus group tested games made in a virtual assembly line.
