will anyone actually fall for this blantent rip-off from nintendo??? its kinda annoying me that microsoft have no orgionality for themselves and are stealing ideas

oh yes, I believe nintendo invented videogames also.

They didn't make motion sensing! sony did(videogame controller!)! but their computer controller was unpopular...

and even then sony probably wasn't the first.

OMG, finally someone who know's at least a little bit about video games history!

Nintendo didn't make the first motion sensing control scheme, just like it didn't make alot of things that people claim to be innovative. What nintendo did (and what I applaud it for) is that it brought a lot of these things into popularity by name alone. So please stop saying "ZOMG, sony and ms are totally ripping off nintendo!!!!" because they didn't, they are just riding the wave of popularity that nintendo created (which really is the only thing they created, because the technology came from somewhere else).

Personally, it's not a bad move by MS, the focus on Japan is probably not the best choice (I know that the article says it's not just for Japan, but if they targetted europe it would be so much better). I don't think it'll work well for Banjo Kazooie (People will cry SMG rip off) but it'd be great for RTS games.

I was already massively pumped for Banjo, and giving serious thought to Halo Wars, but bundle one of those games with a more accurate version of the Wiimote and that'd be awesome.

Of course it's responding to a trend Nintendo picked up on first (even if they didn't invent the concept), but why on earth should that mean it won't be great. And to those saying "not many 360 games would use it," you forget how easily Microsoft encouraged third parties to make extensive use of Live and Achievements this generation. Additionally, how many Wii games effectively use the Wiimote outside of Nintendo first party?

Those saying that this will a massive failure should remember something. Microsoft isnt going to blow thebudget on this project. It won't need to pull in many new console owners to be a profitable concept. The last two reported quarters have each shown profits for the 360 and this would INCLUDE losses from "360mote" development. And for god's sake, they won't actually call it that.

I really don't know what to think.

Part of me thinks that this is a horrible mistake, and part thinks it's a step in the right direction, and another part thinks that it's just a rumor.

I'm going to reserve judgment of calling this a failure or not for a while.

But how could it be a horrible mistake?  At worst it doesn't improve sales.

I guess all the people saying MS is ripping off Nintendo never heard of the Sidewinder!

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

@ Starcraft

People could call them out for 'copying' the Wii-mote, or it could totally make Banjo and/or Halo Wars horrible to play, or anything. Or, it could exponentially improve both games... I just don't know.

I don't think the Japanese are going to be too thrilled about an American company ripping off their own Nintendo's idea and then trying to sell it too them. Just a thought.

But the only people that would go "they ripped of Nintendo, what assholes, I'm not buying a 360" are the kind of people that wouldn't have bought a 360 anyway.

And I'm about 101% positive that the "360mote" (hate that name) won't be the only control option for either game.

Maybe it'll be awesome! Maybe not.

But what is certain is that they will get called out for 'copying' the Wii-mote.
