Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Fortnite boosting pc and console sales?

So my nephew got an xbox for Christmas because all his class buddies were playing fortnite. It got me thinking. This game is probably the biggest phenomenon since cod4. Surely sales of the ps4, Xbox and pc are being boosted by it.

I've seen no hard data to back this up but does anyone else feel this way? Sony or Nintendo if they get it on the Switch would be smart to do a hardware bundle of this for next holidays? I know it's a free download but include a few thousand V bucks which all the kids are mad for.

I don't know, I haven't really seen any indication if it boosting hardware sales myself.

The biggest phenomenon since COD4? Minecraft is bigger and PUBG has almost the same player count on only two platforms and with a 30$ entry fee. The only thing it broke records with was Twitch/Youtube stats.

Im not sure if its moving hardware but im sure its one of those type of games you get when you buy the hardware.

Why would it boost hardware sales if you don't need new hardware to play it? I'm playing it on my etch a sketch right now.

I haven't owned a PC since 2014. Never needed it for anything after I got the PS4, and after months of it just sitting there, I decided it to part ways with it.

As for Fortnite, I don't know if it's boosting new hardware, but I know that it is very popular on all platforms. Many people I know or have met lately have moved to it, or got back to playing their device of choice because of it. I would imagine it is creating some new users for each platform.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
