Than write a separate post about it Don, why are you bringing up a separate issue over a tweet, its not in topic, topic is about Phil congratulating Santa Monica. Phil does not personal make the games. His the CEO of Xbox (Not a developer) his whole day is probably on the phone, I don't know exactly what he does and neither do you.

End of the day, accept the fact his being a good guy. His not going to cry in the corner because of video games, His a grown man and does what he needs to do. His on a lot of money and if he wasn't doing his job right MS would be stepping into his salary or contract or position.

And as CGI has stated, this convo has gotten stale. I have moved on.

You mean a different thread? No need, there is plenty already talking about the lack of 1st party and usually the same people will say it isn't an issue.

If you have no idea what a CEO does and that in the case of a gaming company his scope involves budget and prioritization for which games will be developed and where will they invest. If it wasn't his job to do so he shouldn't have been saying for at least 5 years that they are investing in increasing the number of studios and 1st party output.

No one is talking about he crying on a corner besides you. What is being said is that he should be improving MS 1st party instead of congratulating rivals.

And the point of you grasping what a topic is about seems doubtful. This is about a guy posting a good tweet not about X1 games. Why are you bringing in X1 development into a topic about Phil posting a good tweet? What if he was on break? what if it was his day off? Is he not allowed to use Twitter? Is he suppose to work 24/7? Will you act this way if Nintendo or Sony congratulated Xbox for a successful game? These are my questions to you since you are bringing up your point into a thread with nothing to do with Xbox games.

My advice to you is If you want to complain about X1's lack of exclusives than write a thread about it or join a thread about it, its really not that hard to do.

Just enjoy the fact that his being a nice guy and his not a CEO who's stubborn and lives under a rock. Let him worry about his own job, MS doesn't need you to worry about him, they will.

⚠️⚠️

Azzanation and Don - last time I tell you guys: that discussion is over! No resolution in sight and it has taken up enough of this thread's space.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Phil was interested in a position at Sony

Guys, if these discussions are too much for y'all to have, civilly, then it's time to walk away. Nothing wrong with disagreeing, but it's going a little beyond that point now.

Okay, let's try this "civilly". Hoho.

Pfahaha. You really thought this is the case?

You understand nothing.

Seems there are too many people in here jealous that Phil walks into work smiling and living a good and healthy life style while many seem to want to see him cry in the corner because of video games.. haha Good luck trying to get him to care.

Its his job to PR, that's what MS pay him to do as well as all the other stuff they put on his plate. Heck this thread is becoming more funnier by the post.

I think the lack of exclusives is due to Phil not doing a good job at it although being a top head at Xbox for about 10 years.

Still waiting for you to show one shred of evidence of anyone bashing him since that is your original claim. Because all I can see is criticism over his being "a good sportsman" instead of launching more games.

Hmm you are not looking hard enough. Try again. *Cough scroll up cough*

You clearly brought up a lack of X1 exclusives in a thread about him posting a tweet to his competition which is completely off topic.. Sounds like you are the one trying to spin something with good meaning into a different topic. A good tweet is not a bad thing *Pats your little head*

Like I said his not a game developer.. do you even know who Phil is? I am starting to think you think his one of there primary game developers or something haha

⚠️ WARNED: Flaming ~ CGI

I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Lets start from the top.

A little exerpt from a wiki article on public relations:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_relations

"Public relations professionals present the face of an organization or individual, usually to articulate its objectives and official views on issues of relevance, primarily to the media. Public relations contributes to the way an organization is perceived by influencing the media and maintaining relationships with stakeholders."

A "PR Guy". So much you ve figured out yourself. Good. But beyond that? The only thing you have is a corner pillar, but nothing else to connect it to properly.

Evi-doodely-dently.

Public relations is a common practise with bigger companies. Why do you think you have to point out that Microsoft is also doing PR? This requires a thoroughly explanation from your perspective. Pls, humor me.

Moving on.

Sony: How do they communicate their intentions? It could be said, by "announcing games too early". Simple. Crazy isnt it? Sony and Nintendo have this wild concept, being companies deeply engaged in the videogamebiz, to put heavy emphasis on... the individual videogame experience and bring their vision forth to their customers. The PSX is a very good example for event marketing to bolster reputation and "articulate objectives". Pretty straight forward, no "fishy talk", no obscure promises, no convoluted business strategy alienating the customer. Not just producing good or great games, but creating memorable experiences to stand out from the crowd and to be cemented in video game culture forever associated with a certain brand.

Nintendo is very adamant about protecting their IPs. Not just because of fear someone could take commercial advantage, and for quality reasons, but they want to be in control how their products and the company itself is perceived by the public. And they're quite efficient. Although people like me who haven't bought any of their products recently or for a longer period of time do have a very positive association, picturing them colorful and inventive, a joy for every child of every age.

It becomes more apparent when looking at the game IPs of the respective companies. Actually only one link necessary:

Let's see what else Microsofts is doing to bolster their reputation and "articulate objectives":

My, are you really that oblivious?

Btw. can you make up your mind?

"it is a PR job, he is getting paid blah blah".

"itfs just some dude bro radiating positive vibes in his freetime, don't be such a hater, why you hatin bro? Y u so mean? Poor Spency, just wants the best for all the gamers from the ...

(*urgh)

... from the bottom of his non-gamer heart."

Sounds kinda familiar?

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/microsofts-original-xbox-one-goal-was-to-sell-200-/1100-6444028/

"The goal that the team had was to figure out how could we sell 200 million game consoles,"

It's interesting how they want to overshadow everything, but it seems not by straightforward honest means (gaems) and not by being perceived productive and help video gaming advance in a meaningful way.

The best for last...

Lol? Would he? Could he? Do they lack compelling exclusives, simultaniously try to torpedo the reputation of the competition?

Would we have the exact same debate if Microsoft would create successful games worth to be praised the same way Sony and Nintendo create games with which they earned their good reputation? By "successful" i don't mean a commercially successful IP MS has recently aqcuired. I'm talking Mario Odyssey, God Of War level of persisting commitment and resulting success.

So lets keep this simple and clear without going off track.

1 - What does Phil's Tweet got to do with the lack of X1 games brought up by many in this thread?

2 - Do you actually think X1 lacks games because Phil has congratulated Sony? (I think twice this entire generation)

3 - Is Phil not allowed to use his Twitter account?

4 - Is Phil the guy who actually makes the games?

Please answer these questions for me so I can see your view on this topic.
