1 more 90+ review away from going up to 95 on meta.

I was just going to post that, where it’s currently sitting, the next game up on the list is a 95%. Though, I think you mean one more 95+ review...

Just a quick question, does anyone still use gamerankings.com?

For those wondering, it's sitting at a 94.57% on there with 41 reviews. Anyway, just curious if there is a general consensus as to why Metacritic is the only one that most seem to focus on.

Metacritic is owned by the same people as Gamespot, so I think it has a large backing because of that.

If it goes up to 95 and stays there, the main games of the series will look like:

95 - God of War (2018)
94 - God of War
93 - God of War 2
92 - God of War 3

That's one hell of an acclaimed track record. Practically GTA/Zelda/3D Super Mario level.

That's two big risks that paid off for game developers this year (the first being MHW).

Hopefully this leads to a trend of trying new things.

And horizon zero dawn last year. That's 3 games on playstation within 13 months of each other all taking big risks and blossoming on playstation. Sonys platform never stays still. Games always evolving and I think that's why the ps4 is king.

I was moreso implying with existing IP.

Monster Hunter made a daring move back to console and away from Nintendo, which numerous people predicted would spell the game's doom. Not only that, but it made the first radical change to gameplay since Tri's involvement of water combat.

And now God of War is following suit, shaking up the gameplay and throwing it far away from the series' original style (and origin, moving from Greek to Norse).

I didntd realize that GameSpot owned Metacritic as well. I knew they owned Gamerankings. Seems weird to have 2 sites that largely do the same thing.

Yeah, CBS Interactive owns both of them for some reason, they also own GameFAQs too I believe.

Could go to 95 with the next 100

It'd need a few more though to stabilize there and not risk dropping down to 94 again.
