I was curious to see how the public reacted to GameCritics review of GOW. Woooo....the poor guy is getting crucified. I read his review and he did have some solid points. I didn't agree with like 2 of his view points. Outside of that, the review seemed legit. I don't agree with the scoring though. I'm not mad at it either though.

The editor there said that they tend to review games harsher because they feel as though 9's and 10's are passed around so casually. Some of the angry subscribers there was accusing the author of being a fanboy for Nintendo because he rated Zelda BOTW a perfect 10, although he had some valid critiques about that game. (I went back and read his review on that game) 7.5 isn't a bad score, but I understand the frustrations of the supporters of the game. You have to critique all of the games that way. Everyone and their mom gave BOTW the highest praise, so naturally from GC's standpoint, you would think that they would give the game an 8-9. Nope... they got a 10.

A 94 in score is still great guys. It doesn't change the merit of the game. GOW is still GOTY material. With Red Dead 2 coming out this year, I can only imagine what other games will be worthy.

Whenever they make a sequel, I hope the lock-on system is improved. I can understand it not being that useful against multiple targets but it's not useful against single targets that are mobile either and that I don't understand.

Fighting without the lock on and instead using the 180 degree turn button is the way to go for crowd control and single enemies, it flows fantastically without the lock on. The only issue I've had that persisted was some of the dark elf heavies but Atreus with upgraded abilities, is your boy for controlling those bastards.

I've never used a 180 turn button in any game. I just don't think of it in the moment but that's not what I'm talking about issue-wise. I was talking about the valkyries. You can't take your eyes off of them in a fight. Between spamming arrows and rolling/dodging, trying to follow one around with a camera is difficult. The lock-on is perfect for keeping them in your line of sight and freeing up your hand when it works. The range is really short and enemies can break it easily. When they make a sequel, it should be improved.

Actually it still can.
3 more 100s weight a bit up that 80 (on a pure average) and if it was really close to 95 (it was) maybe it can even raise it to 95, 4 more 100s surely would.
It has 108 reviews, it can still get 4 to 7 more, maybe it can actually still pull it, but it can't have anymore score under 90 and almost just 100s.

Nah, it's done mate. Gotta let it go now, the dream is dead. This game should be sitting at 97, such a pity.

I'm pretty sure there will be at the very least 4 more reviews, if not more, and the fact with 3 perfect score it might actually get back to 95, and 4 makes it goes there for sure, well, it's possible.

Not that likely as before that 80, tho.

what is your favorite place or bossfight in the new god of war :)?

could be a few more I missed, GOW could potentially get 120 reviews so their are many possible outcomes that can occur.

Yeah, it's done. Staying at 94. Not sure how Jim will go with it because on one hand he won't like the perceived trend of making games the "same style" as the last of us as some ass hats keep comparing it yet he'll love to support single player driven games with no add ons or micro transactions. I hear a QTT are trolls as many have pointed out in the thread here and for good reason and the Playstation magazines could go any which way, their scores never seem to be biased or predictible so it'll be down to the guys who review it, no less than 80's though.

Awe, yeah. Those are a hassle alright, I see where you are coming from now. Can't say much more though than I had the camera sensitivity at max and didn't use lock on, managed to take many of them down on balanced with no issue but the camera will cause you to get face stomped and caught in animations, indeed. The only way I can see them fixing this is to widen the FOV and extend it vertically a bit or provide setting in which you can arrange kratos so you could bring the camera up more however I very much doubt they'll do this as I'd reckon the tight FOV is to keep the game running smooth with all the graphical bells and whistles. A misstep truly but now that the game has been played by the majority and gotten it's praise, I would hope they'd reduce graphics to add in a wider and taller FOV and hope they don't make the same mistake on the next game, which will most likely be running on 9th gen. I think as the camera is the most negative feedback they've gotten they'll take note of that and "be better".

Jim Sterling doesn't use scores for his reviews anymore so that's one less to worry about, besides he seems to have liked the game quite a bit.

There's probably more I'm missing but so far the reviews yet to drop are from:

Could still hit 95, hopefully QTT stays away from it!

Yes Jim does not score anymore.

Also, PlayZine and Playground.ru have already reviewed it and are on metacritic, both with 95.

Lol. I am sorry but i have never seen so many people hanging on and urging a game to a better score ever like this before. Or maybe i didn't look in the right places. Its a bit hilarious tbh.
