Sony has a marketing deal with objectively the biggest game releasing this year. RDR2 is going to be the most successful 3rd party deal this generation. Another big game from Sony is Spiderman releasing September 7th. Sony is ensuring this game will have long legs and mindshare during the holidays by releasing 2 movies in this universe alongside: Venom (13 Oct), Spiderverse (7 Dec).

Nintendo is dependent on Smash Bros, unannounced megatons (Pokemon?) and the possibility of Labo being successful. From 3rd parties a portable GTA V could also be very succesful.

Which company is going to dominate the holidays in your opinion?

EDIT: I'm talking about hardware sales.

Wait, wait! There is a venom movie coming out?? And a new Spider-Man movie as well??!!!

Oh well i dont consider november as the holidays but nonetheless Switch had stock issues and absolutely no deals during black friday and managed to be that close to knocking deals for the PS4.

Close? In Nov? Nah it was not close at all now in Dec it was close but the Switch won......and did the Switch really need deals seeing as it had just released a few months earlier and was still the hot new item on the market? And isn't Dec normally always bigger for Nin than the other 2 as well?

This year will be different though, some good Switch deals and bundles should be expected and I think it will sell great. Now will it be enough to win the Holidays I do not know but I think it is a toss up at this point!

If Smash/Pokemon or a mixture of something similar is out this holiday, then Nintendo has it. If its only Smash as the ''big'' game this year and that just ends up being an enhanced port, then PS4 has it

Regardless of what the line-up is, you can almost be sure that it'll be either Sony or Nintendo.

People keep saying this but the XB1 won Nov+Dec last year which is what is usually considered the Holidays lol. Why do we count them out?

No XB1X launch

Last year it was really close between the 3 companies for the whole November / december period. But this year Nintendo won't have 2 GOTY games released the same year and just before holiday for one (Odyssey and Zelda) and Sony still has great games released during the year (GoW and Spiderman).

Also most Nintendo gamers that want to play Pokemon or Smash have most likely already bought a Switch to play Mario Kart, Odyssey and Zelda.

And Microsoft won't release a new console this year.

So I think Sony will win this year.

This is true! For some reason though I still think this will be another close year between the 3.

Why are you assuming most people who want Pokemon or Smash already have a Switch?

Im curious how 3DS sold over 70 million if the majority of their fanbase is present after ~16 million sales.
