I find it strange that they never developed a big, traditional FPS, such as a Halo competitor.

But, as many people have said, they clearly don't "need" to do so.  They're doing well without it.

They did it was called Killzone 2, it flopped pretty hard for the size of the budget it was made with.

Be honest though..... like 99% would probably rather have a Horizon Zero Dawn 2, than a new Killzone.
Its a good thing Guerrilla Games decided to do something differnt.

I prefer the direction sony with going with story drivin games. But i'd love them to do another warhawk I loved that game on ps3.

Do they really need it?

Smash is big, but Street Fighter is akin to that and its done by a 3rd party.
Splatoon is big, but again a single Call of Duty is bigger (and you get 1 each year), again done by 3rd party.

They dont need to, 3rd party probably love that they dont have to compete against sony in this area too.
It might be why its easy for them to get these 3rd on their systems (because 3rd know they ll sell gangbusters)

Basically first thing that I wrote is that they don't need it, so I dont see why you replied to me.

Because you wrote you found it Strange they didnt have a big exclusive multiplayer only game.
Why is it strange if it doesnt make sense for them to do so?

This is one of the reasons MS if not winning the gen, it focus's on multiplayer games (a role 3rd party already fills really well) and its lacking in other genre's.

It makes much more sense for sony not to follow down that route, and instead stick to their strengths (esp when no one else on the market does what they do), those Single player experiances cant be gotten else where, Nintendo & MS dont really do game like them, its a reason to buy a Playstation, while Sony makeing some Online Multiplayer game, probably wouldnt be.

ei. = its not strange, its smart (imo).

they don't, they tried many times during PS3 and they failed. they don't really need it.

Why wouldnt make sense for them!? They also have plenty of singleplayer games or games from most other genre from 3rd party also, and they still make singleplayer games and games from different genres, but they are lacking some big multiplayer game. Clarly they dont need it, they are doing great even without big multiplayear game, but they would doing fine even without some other single player games they having, I just find strange that they dont have some big multiplayer game.

Biggest reason one why MS is losing this gen from Sony is the initial DRM plans and inferior hardware for higher price point, both Sony and MS didnt had soem big exlusives in its first year or two.

Because Playstation has such good 3rd party support.
Those 3rd party guys more than cover the "online multiplayer" genre, its a genre thats already over crowded.

Thats why... its a waste to do it for them.

Bull....   and even if a few 3rd party titles are simular and of same quality, those things a few and far between.

While look at the online multiplayer genre.... people are drowning in those titles.

So its 2 differnt situations.

Killzone 2&3 had some of the best mp in fps. Its a shame killzone did not catch and I suppose shadow falls didn't do it any favours.

The changing objectives in killzone alone with the tactical gameplay that cones with spawn grenades, sentries and turrets makes for amazing mp. I really hope they remaster KZ2 and bring the mp back with it.

Yes, but that goes for evre genre not just for big online games. Those 3rd party games covers every genre of games not just big online games, that's why PS4 was selling great even before had any good exclusive game.

I could also say its waste to make Killzone, Uncharted, Drive Club, GT...there other 3rd party games that are not big online games, and PS4 would sell great even without games that I mentione.

Bull....there are plenty of 3rd party single player games and games that are not big online games, for instance Far Cry 5 was just released.

No they don't.

They already tried very hard in PS3 days, but that just isn't their mojo. Just look at how dissapointing GT sport turned out to be.

Eh, GT:S deviated away from what GT is supposed to be. It doesn’t mean that they couldn’t release a solely multiplayer project and have it succeed.

On the question of need - no, they don’t.

I mean....it's not bad (it's pretty decent) but just inferior compared to the mainline entries this pales in comparison (imo of course).

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Not from the sales numbers that I have seen, Sony has hit a stride, they dont really need anything in particular, other than keep doing what they have been doing. I think anything they start now will be for PS5 in mind personally.
