Forums - Sony Discussion - Does Sony need an exclusive multiplayer!?

The online multiplayer market is soooo crowded with so many other actors..... no they dont.

Apart from that, I really dont care about those games.
Let 3rd party cater to those that enjoy them.

Sony does Story Driven Single Player experiances, and there's few that do them as good as them.
If they started doing multiplayer games instead, it would be a huge loss to the market place as a whole.
(while them doing multiplayer games, wouldnt really add much)

No they dont need, but I find strange that Sony dont have some its own big multiplayer game.

Do they really need it?

Smash is big, but Street Fighter is akin to that and its done by a 3rd party.
Splatoon is big, but again a single Call of Duty is bigger (and you get 1 each year), again done by 3rd party.

They dont need to, 3rd party probably love that they dont have to compete against sony in this area too.
It might be why its easy for them to get these 3rd on their systems (because 3rd know they ll sell gangbusters)

Killzone is a failure attempt to be a Halo level of FPS.

Does anybody even remember the failure of MAG? It was not for the lack of trying, they did but all their attempts failed.

Basically first thing that I wrote is that they don't need it, so I dont see why you replied to me.

No they don't.

They already tried very hard in PS3 days, but that just isn't their mojo. Just look at how dissapointing GT sport turned out to be.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Well, games like TLoU2 and Death Stranding will have multiplayer, both of which will obviously be very big games, so it’s not like they have nothing on that front. I would like to see more multiplayer-centric games like Resistance, MAG, and Starhawk come back, but they’re certainly not needed for Playstationnto be successful.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

Third party companies provide enough stellar MP games.

Plus they do have TLoU2 coming, though if the first is any indication, it will be beaten to death with shady MP DLC.

They shouldn’t have killed SOCOM. They could have had a Rainbow Six Siege type phenomenon before Ubi did.

Everybody has their niche. Seems like Sony's is compelling story driven third-person action games (Uncharted, Last of Us, God of War, Horizon, Yakuza, Shadow of the Col, The Last Guardian BloodBorne, The Order, Knack, Infamous, Spider-Man, etc).

I did see someone posting Socom, which would add a lot of diversity to their lineup. ,

Doesn't seem necessary, although it definitely wouldn't hurt either. That said, I'd rather take those single-player experiences. They're much less common than multiplayer games these days.

I find it strange that they never developed a big, traditional FPS, such as a Halo competitor.

But, as many people have said, they clearly don't "need" to do so.  They're doing well without it.

They did it was called Killzone 2, it flopped pretty hard for the size of the budget it was made with.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
