Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yo-kai Watch 4 announced for Switch, releases 2018 In Japan

Level-5 appears to have announced that the latest entry of the yo-kai collecting series with Yo-kai Watch 4 will release for Nintendo Switch in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

While information remains light for the time being, it’s been confirmed for a 2018 release window. It’ll feature characters from the anime including Touma Tsukinami, Natsume Amano, Keisuke Amano, and Akinori Arihoshi.

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino commented that “its content is getting a super high-grade power up, including some things that will surprise everyone.”

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino recently stated that all future main games from the company would be released for the Nintendo Switch – and it seems like he wasn’t kidding. Yo-kai Watch 4 has been announced in the latest edition of Famitsu, and it will be released exclusively for the Switch.

Nice! This will be a great test for the future of the franchise. I'm sure Level 5 wants to capitalize on the ppoularity of the system, but considering the audience for YW in Japan is mostly children that may not be able to get a Switch this soon, it will be interesting to see.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Alright, let's see if this franchise truly has a place among the big boys.

Yokai was in some pretty serious decline I think, we'll have to see if this continues that trend or not.

On the other hand, this could lead to quite a few upgrading from 3DS to Switch. Hardware sales will be interesting when the game launches.

Switch only? That's disappointing especially after they announced Inazuma Eleven for PS4.

Don't Nintendo have a deal with Level 5 with this? I mean, Nintendo is the one publishing the games in NA and Europe, and considering it's a handheld series first and foremost, the jump to PS4 isn't probably of that much worth.

Looking at this series as a whole, I don't think we are actually missing out on anything of substance, no offense to the fans.

Level-5 will make sure that YW4 will release before Pokemon Switch.

This will be biggest 3rd party Switch exlusive until now in Japan.

That would be a great move on their part. It would also benefit Pokemon quite a lot, since YW are always hardware sellers in Japan, so the bigger the installbase the better the sales.
