Forums - Nintendo Discussion - GameStop CEO: Unannounced Titles Will Help Switch To "Very, Very Strong" 2018

Pkmn, AC and some unexpected 3rd party announcements.

Around the Network

This makes me think that Animal Crossing and at least a couple big AAA third party games (maybe just older ports like GTA or something) will be coming second half of this year.

I have no doubt Switch's AA offerings and indie game offerings this year will make a solid 2018, it is really just missing a few big AAA titles with only Smash announced so far.

So if you add perhaps Animal Crossing plus a couple big third party AAA games to Smash, Yoshi, DK port, Toadstool port, Labo, Kirby, Bayonetta ports, Mario Tennis, Octopath Traveler, Crash, etc. and a bunch of indie games and other third party games I think that makes a pretty good year.

Nintendo has already teased Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Metroid. Plus they’ve shown off a lot of the interesting looking multi-plane Yoshi game. Add in a possible Animal Crossing to capitalize on the mobile app marketing; realistically, they should have hit that metal while it was still hot, but it’s still better off, brandwise, now than it was before. Tak also teased an XCX port.

So my prediction for new stuff announced for the rest of the year from Nintendo:

1. Yoshi - almost certain.
2. Fire Emblem - almost certain.
3. Pokemon - highly likely.
4. Metroid Prime - highly likely
5. Animal Crossing - Likely
6. Xenoblade Chronicles X - likely

Those go on top of
* Mario Tennis
* Smash Brothers sequel
* Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
* Hyrule Warriors remake
* Toad Treasure Tracker

I don’t think any more than this from Nintendo, since that’s already a nice stack for 2018.

I don't really think Prime 4 or Pokemon are more likely than Animal Crossing .... which is ironic given they were announced earlier, but...

Agreed.

I think Pokemon and Metroid will be the two Nintendo AAA games for 2019. I don't see any reason to think Pokemon or Metroid would come out this year.

There are minimal chances that we will have both Animal Crossing and Pokemon this year, posible Xenoblade Chronicles X remaster is more likly for next year, Metroid Prime 4 is most likly next year game. Other than that we still dont know when Retros game could be released (definitely expecting that game will finally be shown at E3), same goes for Next Level Games game and Pikmin 4, also same other Wii U port is very possible for this year.

Something that sells a lot but that hardcore gamers do not care about are sports- and fitness-games.
Kinect Sports sold more than 6 million, EA Sports sold 4 million.
A Switch Sports bundle at Chritmas will sell over 10 million.

Fitness games sell a lite less but will draw the female audience.
A sexy viral video for Switch Fit will help sell over 10 million.

If a real Pokémon game is not coming this year there could be a spinoff that uses amiibo, like Pokémon Trading Card Game or Pokémon Snap.
That would sell a couple of millions.

Maybe Nintendogs or Brain Age can reach old and new fans.

There'd be Switch shortages again, esecially in Japan

I'd say try and guess, but that seems unlikely to nail anything. I mean, Mario Rabbids. Xenoblade selling a million in a month.

...For all we know that Punch Out/Mad World crossover is going to be revealed.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Think Nintendo will finally reveal the MEGATON?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
